I've been using a 1 GB Lexar Compact Flash card. I took out the card to use in a reader and print since I maxed out the card with pictures I had left on the camera. Now when I reinsert the card it says "card error" and won't let me format the card or anything. I even bought a new one - thinking perhaps the old one was damaged - but still nothing but the "card error" message.
The pictures are still on the old 1 GB card, I've loaded them onto my computer without problem.
Help
I had the same problem. Unfortunately it turned out tha I had somehow bent some of the pin. Look inside to see if some of the pins are not alingned. Then try to bend it back. I bent them back and one got a little messed up resulting in faulty reading of the images. Black flashing parts on the image. Mikes camera said the pins would have to be replaced at $200. I'm not happy as I only used my camera once. Hope you have better luck
Check the pins in the cf slot.. should be two even rows and straight... probably needs repair
Picking my camera up tommorow its been repaired, it was bent and broken pins which produced the problems you are describing , including replacing cf card for xd wont solve the problem

I have tried two CF and one xD cards and all show the same error. One of the CF cards is brand new.
used my card in the computer card reader, reinserted it in camera and now have card error.
Tried resetting as instructed . . . still card error. Have only had the camera since May 08
How do I know if the 'pins' are damaged?
We are having the same problems ... down loaded pictures. Put card back in and card error so went and bought a differnt card (the other size that fits) and still get card error???
I took the cf card and put it in reader at work. I have done this several times with no problems. I put it back in the camera and now I have dual card error messages for xd and cf cards. They work fine in my brothers e-500 and my computer but not my camera. HELP!!
Neither the CF cards nor the xD cards work. They all show the same error. I don't think it's probably the pins in both slots. Any other ideas?
