All of a sudden my TV stopped working. It worked fine yesterday and today it will not turn on. A red light on the front of the TV is present when the TV is plugged in, but neither the front power button or the remote work to turn it on. When pressing the power button I hear a faint electrical click sound and same thing when I turn it off. There are some lights illuminated on the circuit board when it is plugged in too. I have tried unplugging it from the power strip and going straight to the wall outlet without luck. I have removed the back panel and do not see any obvious blown fuses. I know nothing about TV repair so any responses should consider me the lowest common denominator. I haven't stuck my hands in there too far as I don't know what the shock risk is and am still enjoying breathing. Any help would be appreciated. If you need me to take pictures of any specific components to help with the troubleshooting, please let me know. Thank you. HOMER: "No TV, no beer make Homer something something." MARGE: "Go crazy?' These set are good for having convergence amps go out, and also audio problems. So if your set had experienced color alignment problems, or sound problems this may tell you what is going on. There are codes for Hitachi, and it's in the LED lights that lights up when you plug in and then hit power button. Some LED lights up and goes off some stay on this tells a tech what is wrong, I use to have code but gotten away from Hitachi, but if you could safely tell me which ones maybe I can help further. Like I said, this set has had many problems with convergence amps going out. There are small fuses on the big board that do not look like the ones in powersupply. They usually say F001 or somthing to that sort. They sometimes can be yellow in color, but the problem is replacing without fixing problem will have it going out again. So hope this helps. and Read the threads here on sets like yours becaus the answer might be here already.

Here is a picture of the board in the bottom right of the TV (looking through the opened back of TV.) The fuse looks fine, but there is some black char or melted tape in the lower right. Any idea what that is? Am I barking up the wrong tree?
Another pic of the inside.
I have the 61SWX12B and I'm have the same problem. The TV was repaired in the past for audio problems. I have the Hitachi service manual and I do have an electronics background. So far I found FP04 to be opened and also looks like CP15 maybe be bad as well. Could this be it? I do have the board out and before I put it back in I would like to be sure this is all that needs to be replaced. Any and all help would be appreciated.
BTW, If anyone needs and do have the Hitachi service manual.
Thanks,
Dave
