If you take the front of the cabinet off, and leave the door switch connected. turn on the dryer. you should see a bright glow coming from the bottom inside off the dryer. if igniter does not glow then your problem could be your igniter or a thermostat. if ignter does glow then the thermostat is ok and the problem could be the igniter is not strong enough or the gas colud be off. if gas is on and igniter glows the problem is your igniter.

There should be a gas igniter, inside of the burner chamber, that will glow bright red before the gas will be allowed to flow. If the dryer model that you have has a flap on the front you will be able to observe this otherwise you will have to remove the front of your machine to check it. If you post back with your machine model number I will be able to assist you further.

Igniter Works, but Gas won't fire up on Sensor Dry, Will on Timed Dry

PLEASE do not use this dryer until it is fixed. it may be a saftey hazard. From the sounds of it. Your ignitor is only getting a signal every now and then. Now either is a coupler in there to tell the ignitor when to fire and when not to fire. It seems that it is going out only alloweing the dryer's ignition to come on only when a new cycle is started. That is where i would start... check with an appliance repair shop and find out if it will be something you can do your self or if it is something they have to do....
Now I do STRONGLEY recomend that you have a service technicion come on and service your dryer do to the fact that it is a GAS dryer. if something inside the dryer where to get pinched or broken it could cause a bigger problem....
so please take this advisment under consideration....
Thank you.

The most common cause for your problem is the gas valve coils. There are 2 and should be replaced in pairs. Over time, they will fire when you first start the dryer but fail to fire again once in mid cycle. A link for a typical set of coils is listed below:

My Frigidaire gas dryer isn't hot. Otherwise it runs fine.

it could be either your ignitor(glow coil) flame sensor control, or a defective thermal switch telling dryer its at temp and shutting off gas supply before it even fires initially

If this is a gas dryer, this is commonly caused by bad gas valve solenoids. Please post back with your make and model so I can verify your configuration and assist you further.

Maytag gas dryer did not work properly

so from my understanding you replaced both gas valve coils???? yes,do you have an ohm dosen't happen often but they could be if your house venting or dryer was very!!!!!!!!,it would have tobe very blocked up.the heat would open the safty thermo and stop the burner from a appliance doctor i would take your dryers temputure .lol.. but hot dose it get.not hot,ok the then dose the voltage drop out at the valve when the coils go out??if it dose its in the other componets before the valve.but if voltage stays presant when coil stops its in the valve area.manufactures used to have connector coming to the valve from the top side[newer dryers they are saving money and left it out then connections would be at the coils]put you volt meter probes there at connector.thats how it works.i had a thought on how to check the flame switch.its the box on the side of the flame tube, black with two wires.after the burner lites[you got to be careful]pull one of those wires off[its hot 110 volts]thats a rare problem but i've had to replace a few over the years[so they do go bad]if after pulling off dryer then works open the door and the power stops to that wire.[also with the power off i might loosen that flame switch wire so comes off eazy when pulled.if any other questions please feel free to email God bless ,tom

hey it dose not have a pilot your dryer has an ignitor.if you have a volt meter with the ignitor exposed you need to check voltage to the ignitor.if voltage replace ignitor,if no voltage re place thermal fuse you can see how the electricty travels by looking at thr wiring diagram
