Cant playback tape

Videos recorded on one camcorder very seldom play back in another, due to the internal codes put on the tape by the original machine.

Why does my camera stop recording after one hour? i need to record 90 minutes

Your camera records in two modes: SP and LP modes. SP is a higher quality mode that runs for about 60 minutes, while LP records for 90.
To change to LP mode, open the menu and select [VCR setup]. Select [REC MODE], set it to [LP] and close the menu.
Keep in mind that your video and audio will be of noticeably lower quality with this setting applied.

No matter how i record i seem to have less than perfect qaulity that i would expect from my xl1s camera. It seems fuzzy or grainy at all times whether great or poor lighting. am i missing somehting in the...

Are you operating with the selector knob in the green "preset" mode or one of the custom modes? That camera can be set up ten ways from Sunday and it's quite possible that it's in a mode that is damaging quality.

Also, check rear element of lens and sensor for debris. It's got a removable lens and might be dirty. Be EXTREMELY careful cleaning the sensor, Seek guidance. Personally, I've never touch a sensor. A puff of air should do it. Don't touch it with anything. If it looks clean, leave it alone.

I have a sony DCR-DVD100 that has been in storage for a year and now it will not record. Will play back previous disk however on its screen. What could be wrong?

Try Resetting the Camcorder. To Reset the Camcorder, first open the LCD of the Camcorder to locate the Camcorder(on the side of the Camcorder, next to RECORD and VOLUME buttons). Then, press and release the RESET button using a sharp pointed object. Then, check whether the issue is resolved.
If the issue still persists service of the Camera is required.
You may also try changing the battery.
