Get it cleaned in paper sensor area and check up the drivers as well as data cable which connects, the pc and printer. Change the data cable if necessary. Give me feedback so that may be some more help can be provided.

Hello, Your problem could be either due to the malfunctioning of the driver or you may have installed a wrong printer's driver. This can be rectified by reinstalling the printer;s driver. Please find the proper driver in the following link.
Have you installed the printer so Windows can print to it? Support for the HP LaserJet 6L is native to XP, so you don't need any special drivers. Just pick "add printer" from the "printers" control panel icon, select HP from the list of manufacturers, and then pick the LaserJet 6L.
