Broken garmin screen

The screen on my Garmin GPS streetpilot C330 broke when it fell off the winshield. i can see the screen and it works but because of the cracks, the touch feature of the screen doesnt work. Can i replace the screen myself, if so where can i get the screen, if not where can i get it fixed for less than the $250 Garmin wants.

GPS Nuvi 350 Fell off the mount while driving, screen now is broken not working when pressing keys. Went to Best Buy, and Future Shop referred to GARMIN .COM, cannot seemed to find repair place to replace the screen, what should I do, this Garmin cost $699.00 w/tax it almost $800. Please help. Theres gotta be a better way to replace this screen without it being too costly?

Like original poster, I've got a dent on my Garmin C320 screen - could see everything, but touch feature stopped working.
Just finished swapping the screen with the one from my old Dell Axim X3 PDA. Now GPS works again! It seems that older units were using industry-standard LCD that could be easily replaced. Not sure about newer Nuvi systems...

Unfortunately the only way to get the screen that I have found is from Garmin, and their price is not too silly because the screen is quite a significant part of the cost of the unit. To replace yourself is probably simple enough, but there will always be the chance that then it doesn't work, with garmin at least they should include that in the price. Best other option would be to pick up a second hand (maybe broken) one yourself - try local repair shops - they may have a box of them. Cannibalising a screen between two identical units should not be hard, although you may need some special screwdrivers or keys to open the unit - doubt it would be anything you can't get at a local hardware store. If you can get a screen and want to try this, please take some photos and post them and we can try and talk you through the procedure. it will usually be little more than swapping a connector, and possibly some mountings that are glued on that need playing with - hardest part is usually getting the bits to stay in place when you put it back together. Hope this helps, post again if you need more :)
