Try using the reset button underneath the power slide button on the left. Use a paper-clip or pencil to push the button in and hold for 2secs.

I can't open my zen v plus and it always light up and there's no start up screen

Can it still play music if you press play after it lights up?
Can you still connect it to a computer?

This sounds like a dead screen, which means it is time for a new player.

In the knowledge base solutions Creative gives next answer, when the player does not power on or charge:

>>>>>
To resolve this problem, establish that the player is charging correctly as follows:
  1. Connect the player to a USB port on the back of a desktop PC, to a powered hub, or to a power adapter ( You can purchase the power adapter here as a separate accessory).

  2. Press the reset button and observe the player.

  3. Check the display for the charging icon battery_ac_charge_1.jpg.
    • As the display times out after a few seconds, press any button on the player to reactivate the display.

    • If the battery is fully depleted, the charging icon may not be displayed. Cup the player in your hands to check that the blue power LED behind the Play/Pause and Options buttons is glowing on and off repeatedly. This indicates that the player is successfully charging. After 1 hour of charging, power on the unit to activate the display. The charging icon should be displayed.

  4. Allow the player to charge for at least 6 hours. During this time, if charging from a USB port, please ensure your PC does not enter a power conservation mode (Standby, Sleep, or Hibernate) as this will interrupt charging.
Creative recommends updating your ZEN V or ZEN V Plus firmware to take advantage of new features and functionality. To learn more, visit SID 29048 in our "Further Suggestions".
Note: If the player does not indicate a charge, or will not power on after at least 6 hours of charging, please contact Customer Support.

I'll begin by saying that this is an 8GB Creative Zen MX, and NOT a 16GB, but I believe the solution may be the same. My zen will not turn on, or connect to my computer. This happened just yesterday...

Hi.
just pressing the reset button is not enough.

Try this:

1. To reset the player, gently insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.

2. Press and hold the Play/Pause button while powering on your player.

3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.

Depending on the model you can also use following procedure:
1. Remove the battery.

2. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Vision. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.

Zen wont work on battery

The battery is bad or the charging circuit is flaking out. Try plugging it in and from the wall side of the charger, unplug and plug it in several times. Sometimes on the Zen players that will shock it back into charging. I have seen that same charging issue on several models of Creative players.

Cheers

Try rebooting the player. This is how u do that. Press and hold the play/pause button. then use a paper clip and push it into the little hole on the bottom of the player next to the charging port. pull the paper clip out and the diagnostic screen should appear on the screen of the player. release the play/pause button. scroll down to reboot and touch the touch pad to reboot. hope that helps.
