SOURCE: can't seem to transfer footage from my SONY HDR SR10 to my imac

I don't know if you would call this a solution but I do know that some computers or programs will not except certain cameras. For instance I have a Sony computer and the editing program I have is Adobe Premier which will not except footage from my JVC camera but will except the footage through my Canon camera. I think the Eggheads that design these programs just like to screw with people.

SOURCE: I put in a tape

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated. This will require disassembling the camera to repair the tape mechanism and can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Trying to import MiniDV from Sony GV-D900 to Windows 7 PC via Windows Movie Maker. The video on the tape is clear and focused. When I import to Movie Maker, via 6 pin to 4 pin Firewire, it becomes so...

sounds like either a bad cable or the software is not set right or the format being sent is not really compatible withe Movie Maker.
Try the cable on a different device if possible.
I'd first try a different cable and if that doesn't work, try using a different software, even on a trial basis where you can get something really professional for free to get this specific thing done.

How to Edit/Convert Sony HDR-FX1 HDV Files to FCP,Adobe Premiere,Avid
sony-hdr-fx1.jpg
Sony's HDR-FX1 is the first three-CCD HDV camcorder to hit the market. The Sony HDR-FX1 HDV camcorder can record and playback both in high definition and in standard MiniDV formats, so the choice is yours. What's amazing is that with this camera, you can play and record both formats on a MiniDV tape!
With the Sony HDR-FX1, Sony developed a special compression engine. It encodes in MPEG2 at the same bit rate as DV. As a result, you can use the same miniDV tapes you're accustomed to buying to record at stunning high definition. Moreover, when in high definition mode, the camcorder records audio in MPEG1 Audio Layer II, providing excellent sound quality.
Sony HDR-FX1 Handycam Camcorder Supported Format:
Audio system: MPEG1 Audio Layer 2 Stereo;
Dolby Digital Output : MPEG1 Audio Layer 2-Stereo (HDV), PCM (DV)
Video: Digital Video Format: MPEG-2
Video Recording System: Real-Time HD Codec Engine, HDV/DV Recording
Still Image Format: JPEG
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Sony HDR-FX1 Handycam Camcorder:
Advantages:
1.Sharp and vibrant three-chip HD images;
2.Native 16:9 capture;
3. Ability to downconvert video for use with existing editing systems and displays.
Disadvantages:
1. No XLR inputs or independent audio-level controls;
2. No 24P;
3.Somewhat difficult to control and monitor focus manually;
4.Limited HDV editing and distribution options at this time.
Final Cut/Abobe Premiere/Avid/Canopus/Pinnacle/Ulead Support Sony HDV/DV files Editing
Along with the announcement of the HDR-FX1, Apple Computer is announcing support for the HDV spec with their popular video editing program, Final Cut. "Native HDV support in future releases of Final Cut will enable our customers to create high quality HD content with affordable HDV cameras, including Sony's much anticipated HDR-FX1 camcorder," said Rob Schoeben, Apple's Vice President of Applications Marketing.
Adobe has also stated that they will be releasing an HDV plug-in for their popular Premiere editing system later this year. "The Sony HDR-FX1 is a milestone product, bringing HD-quality video at resolutions of up to 1080i at a price that will encourage widespread adoption of HDV across the industry. In keeping with our commitment to lead the HD revolution, Adobe plans to release a HDV Plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro later this year," said Steve Saylor, Vice President, Digital Imaging and Video, Adobe Systems, Inc.
Avid, Canopus, Ulead and Pinnacle also announced support for HDV. Editing support has been a big issue for HDV in the past, with third party companies supplying solutions for Final Cut and Adobe Premiere.
Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac Supports Native Sony HDV/DV files Converting
With the release of Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac, no matter what usages you want to deal with Sony HDR-FX1 recorded HDV/DV files, for sharing on your websites, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Motionbox, Myspace, etc, for playing with your iPad, iPhone 4, iPod, Android Phones, Xbox 360, etc, for making forever collection by burning to Blu-ray or DVD, etc, it can help you to convert Sony HDV/DV files to MOV, AVI, WMV, 3GP, MP4, FLV, F4V, etc formats you wanted. Take it as your Sony HDR-FX1 converter, and you have the choice to deinterlace HDV/DV files, merge HDV/DV files into only one.

Please help me ... how can i transfer videos from my Sony HDR-FX1000E Camcorder tape to save it into my laptop (SonyVPCEB1M1E)? i will be waiting to hear from you... thanks a lot.

Transferring video from your FX1000E should be quite simple using an HDMI cable. If you've recorded in HD, the files may be quite large, so make sure there's enough space on your HD to accommodate them or the transfer will error out (which might be the problem you're experiencing). Once transferred, the most recent version of Windows Media Player should be able to play them. You may want to convert them to MP4 files to save some space too. If space is an issue, think about getting a 1TB external hard drive to transfer them to. You can then plug both the FX1000E into your laptop and the external drive into your laptop at the same time and when capturing the footage save it directly to the external drive.
