The best way to address a dvd problem is to call the 800 number of the company that made the unit. Have them work on the problem first. You can try connecting the dvd player to another set and see if you have the same problem. Next use a different type of connection to the set.

Go to the picture settings with no disc in unit. Deselect 16x9/wide/stretch mode (depending on your player, it will be one of these).

This sounds like either a convergence or pincushion problem.

Most likely your tube is burning out. If there are any adjustments at all to fix this it will be in the menu under picture setting.

Last lines on page printing squished

It is a problem with the drive train. It is not finishing the feed process. Or it could be the toner. Try replacing the cartridge and see if that helps.

Hi there When I shoot in 16x9 widescreen with my Canon XL1 the viewfinder shows the same image as when shooting in 4x3. Can this be adjusted. Regards John

It is not showing the same image, it is showing the 16x9 squished down to the 4x3 aspect ratio. I thought I had the same thing at first too. But to check & make sure set up a shot of something square in one or the other shooting ratios. Then go into the menu & set it up on the 16x9 on/off. To make it easier to see the picture hook up to a monitor to see the picture without squinting through the eye piece. Now while you are watching the picture switch the 16x9 on & off on the camera. If you started in 16x9 the square will lengthen from side to side in 4x3, while the square in 4x3 will become squished on the sides. If you can't tell, take a piece of tape [removable tape that is] and make the sides of the box before & after you change the aspect ratio.

Fuzzy picture, oval shaped, scrolling up slowly

I would start by checking the large filter capacitors in the power supply. I can't be sure since I'm not seeing the set, but it sounds like you're describing AC ripple. In a 20-year-old set, some of those electrolytics will be drying out. A few replacements may take care of the trouble for you.

Jpeg images are all squished up

The jpeg images will have to be resized using PhotoShop or another image editing program in either a 4 to 3 proportion, or a 16 to 9 proportion - whichever format you want to stick with. Then reburn the images to disc.

Sorry Bud you cant. An original remotes available at http://www.remotes.com or 1800-remotes for about $61.00 + shipping. Without seeing a picture Im not even sure if thst will help ya man. If you wanna try to see if an alighnment will help then get the remote. I would advise you against doing any sort of technical alighnments as this set has high voltage around inside even afterv its been disconnected for a while. Good Luck
