Question about Hotpoint HTS20GCNWW / HTS20GCNCC Top Freezer Refrigerator
I have a hotpoint 18.2 cf top moint refrigerator/freezer (model #ctx18elg) and the fridge part is not cooling. A couple of weeks ago we noticed the fridge not getting as cold as it should and thought the vents may have been blocked. We cleaned the freezer out and made sure vents are open. Still not cooling the fridge properly. I cleaned all the coils under the unit and removed back access panel to clean around compressor and condensor and it did not seem to make much difference. I did notice when we cleaned the freezer out that there was a white powder over everything. What can I do to get this fixed. This is a rental house and the landlord will not repair or fix anything. If I have problems he leaves it up to me to get it fixed or it never gets done.

the problem is there is a build up of ice insid of the freezer .
What you need to do is take out all your draws in the freezer and you will see a plastic backing held on with about 8 screws . undo all the screws and the back should come aay and you will see all the ice built up . just use a hair drier to melt the ice and that should cure your problem.

bulmer...it takes about two days to fully defrost these units unless you take the freezer section cover off and use a heat source. If you do...be sure to protect yourself against water and electricity mixing....not healthy. See below for another note.
clean the condenser coils below the unit.
check for the amount of gas in the unit. It must be off for half an hour. Remove the back fiber panel. The big thing is the compressor. Clean off the largest pipe coming out of it. Plug the unit in...watch out for the fan! The pipe should frost up and then clear off or stay wet after about 5 minutes. It should not be frosty. If it is, you need refrigerant.
Note: If you do remove the inside freezer panel and defrost, you can see how much refrigerant you have in your unit. Start the unit. Wait 5 minutes and observe the coils. They should be evenly frosted end to end. If approximately so, you're good. If not, you're low on gas.

Hi, I've just fixed this I think! it started making a noise then stopped then the fridge got really warm. In the freezer compartment unscrew the white cover, behind there I found the fan had got ice all around it and ice over a sensor, I have defrosted it and plugged it back in and it is cold again. However the super cool and super freeze are still flashing after several hours, but it is now cold. Better than paying Hotpoint £160 to fix it!

your defrost heater or timer is not working . rotate you defrost timer until it clicks and check if its is defrosting if it is let it defrost for about 10 mins and turn the timer some more to take it out of defrost. replace timer

I have a a Whirpool fridge. The freezer is cooling great but the refrigerator will not get over 50 degrees. We have cleaned out the freezer. Made sure the drainage hole in the freezer was not frozen over. Cleaned the back of the fridge. We blew out all the dust on the coiles and compressor. The refrigerator is still not cooling correctly.
i have electrolux fridge mdel # FRT21C5AQ6 and fridge is not cooling properly
