Screen resolution jumps every 15 seconds

I have a ATI Radeon X800GTO card and lately the screen resolution jumps all by istself every 15 seconds from 1280X1024 to 480X640. I reloaded the drivers from ATI with no luck. I have the original disc, should I try to start from scratch? What about registery files?

Try this as follows: 1) Remove any ATI graphics drivers from your PC. 2) Install your driver from the original disc. 3) if it works, ok, if not, update to the latest driver from ATI's website. 4) if that doesnt work, try to maunally delete registery entires of ATI, IN SAFE MODE of course. then remove the driver of ATI, then install it from CD, again, if it works, ok, if not, update it from ATI website.

In which case your graphic card is faulty. It could be the Memory on it rather than the Graphic processor.

That's because those programs you are using are switching the resolution from the native windows resolution.

Black Screen when playing 3D games on ATI Radeon 9550 X1050 Serie

the game resolution is not supported by your monitor....this is the reason your screen goes blank....
by the next time if the screen goes blank, press alt+ctrl+del together and check are you able to see the task manager....
if you can see the task manager, then close the game from that window by selecting end task....
if you cant see the task manager, then press ctrl+alt+del together 2 times and check....
if nothing works, then try by checking with any HD monitors if available with you or with your friends...

Is my motherboard compatible with a new graphic card

Being agp3.0, it is backwards compatible so in theory, it should work. With the older system, it may be dangerous. I would find a card that clearly states that it works in x8 (3.0) 1.5v. If it doesn't work it could fry the whole system. If i find a card that works, I'll let you know.

Screen goes blank on Log on

You must uninstall your previous video card drivers before installing the new card, especially if they were nVidia drivers.

Hp pavilion zd8000 ati mobility radeon x600 128 mb

A bit late over a year has passed.........

I have a smilar problem, with the ATI enabled the laptop black screens on startup.
If you disable the ATI x600 in Device Manager (using safe mode) the laptop works fine as the ATI is not being used.

Solution is to replace the ATI x600, which unfortunately is a specialist job as this is soldered directly onto the motherboard. Or replace the motherboard.

I have located a company in Manchester (called CRM) that repairs HP computers, and they can repair/replace the ATI for around £175, or replace the motherboard for about £250. Replacing the board gives you a 12months warranty. add VAT to those figures. There phone number is 01618881232, I have found them to be very helpful.

Ati Radeon 9000 video card driver

It could be related to the display resolution settings. If you can boot into "VGA mode", that should get you started.
