Philips tv 30pw9815

I could not find my tv model so I listed it under this model. I have a 30pw9815 Philips Flat screen TV that wont turn on. It has a yellow stand by light that is usually on when the tv is off. Today the yellow stand by light was flashing red. I called Philips and they said it was a power problem and to have it serviced? Any suggestions?

More than likely it is a power supply type problem and could have multiple components bad. They are no fun to work on either, so I would either have it serviced (Expect $250-400) or replace it as the price of this size set has decreased dramically the last few months. To get a feel for what brands are more reliable, check out the last few issues of Consumer reports at your local library.

Phillips tv wont turn

Go to Philips web site, (enter Model number....) then download updated software & drive to update your TV software. It will fix that problem. I just did for my TV (42PF7320A/37).
Here is the link:
Download and save in USB. Stick USB on the TV' USB then updated from there.

generally you push the "tv" button on the remote first before using any other buttons unless there are dedicated tv buttons. if the remote is preprogrammed for other makes/models then the list of codes will be found in the STB handbook under remote programming.

Enter the exact Model Numbere in the search text field.

First verify the exact Model Number of your TV. Mine is a 42PF7220A/37.

On this page I found listed under "Software

& drivers" the Firmware Upgrade Software 42PF7220A/37 v1.5.0.0

I downloaded the compressed file and extracted it to a USB Flash Drive

.
After you extract the file you will have 2 files...."autorun.upg" and a "readme.txt".
Print out the readme file the delete it off the USB Flash Drive

Make sure the USB Flash Drive

has only one file on it (autorun.upg)

Make sure the TV is turned off.
Put the USB Flash Drive in any of the USB ports on the TV.
Turn the TV power on with the Power Button on the righthand side of the TV.
The TV will display an Update screen.
Let the TV run through all 3 processes.
Turn the TV off and remove the USB Flash Drive.
Power the TV back up.
Hopefully the Updates fixed the problem.....

Philips 42" Model # is 42PF7320A TV Yr. 2005

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.

If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you red light flashing codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

Philips 30PW9815 30" TV No Video

Hi there, the repair is possibble. One cause for the above mentioned error can be: no heating at CRT. Check R3466 (large signal panel). If defective replace following components: R3466 - 1R, L5466 - 10uH and R3467 - 1R. The other cause can be the defective CRT(cathode ray tube) ir there is a high voltage. My wall mounted Phillips FlatTV model 30PF9975/12 works initially, but after some time (Sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes an hour), the screen goes blank (I can still hear the sound). If I turn off and turn back on, I get a blinking red standby light. If I leave it for some time, it will work again then go off as before.
