There is a good chance your PSP is bricked, especially if you tried to upgrade or downgrade your firmware recently. Bricked means: the hardware is still in good shape but the firmware fails to boot. That problem can be removed by using "Pandora's Battery", if you just google around you will find out how to do it, there are psp repair services that do it for you as well. Basically the idea is to get the PSP into a condition which will allow you to rewrite the firmware.

Its called a BRICK you need to send it to sony to fix it or buy a pandoras battery, google "psp Brick" too see what it is and what your options are.
Please dont rate as :thanks for trying: cause its the truth i know cause i have a pandoras battery and ive bricked mine many times and its the only way to fix it besides sending it in to be repaired.
i dont believe this is a bricked issue. it cold be a short on the board or wiring some where inside. this noticable if it works after you lightly tap it like mine. but once it comes on it usally will stay on tapping a briked psp does nothing.
Open the battery compartment, and remove the battery. Look at the bottom inside corner for a little square sticker with has marks on it. is it dark or light, If it is dark, your PSP has come in contact with moisture. I suspect that your PSP has gotten wet or damp. If the sticker is dark, you need to keep your battery out for about 2 days, and keep the UMD door open and the whole PSP kept in a dry environment. Try it after 2 days of drying to see if it is recovered. Good luck Gohan....
If you are somebody another person had done the mistake while updating your PSP. For eg:
1) Removed the battery.
2) Unplugged the charger of your PSP.
3) Removed the UMD.
then it is possible that your PSP is bricked it means it is useless untill you replace the motherboard with a new one.
