No sound from amp. Turns on, but seems to be clipping out and is popping. Any troubleshooting advice?

I arrived at church where i keep my amp. Upon plugging in and turning it on, it started clipping and several various lights started lighting up at random. Although it was on, no sound was coming out and it kept "popping" as if it had some kind of electrical short. Is there any troubleshooting steps you can recommend for me to try?

Check the connector where your instrument cable comes in. Make sure you are getting a good connection. Unfortunately, there is likely a bigger problem.

Thank you very much for taking time to respond. Upon more careful evaluation, I plugged in and will ALL knobs turned down, it started making a loud humming noise. It just kept getting louder and louder until it would pop then nothing. No sound. Nothing. I have a feeling the amp may be fried.

Gigrac 600 turns off, displays the Amp 2 clip light then turns off. All volume knobs are turned down. All external items are disconnected and it still turns off. My only complaint about these units is...

There is a bad amp in that divice that is causing an overload. The device then shuts down. This is not something that you can fix yourself. IT requires special diagnostic tools and troubleshooting as well as soldering ability.

The Limit Prot LED on my RCF Art-321A speaker remains on upon power up. The speaker also pops upon powering down. What do you think it could be? Thanks

The amp is blown. Some popping on power down is NOT uncommon, but the protect LED means the pwer amp is out of balance which is ******* speakers. Take in for repair.

Sounds like you're over driving them. First check to make sure they're on "line level" not mic. Shutting off is amp(s) in speakers going into "thermal shutdown" IE: overheating. According to your description level settings look good - check to make sure speakers are on LINE LEVEL

I recently ordered a Behringer BSY600 Bass Synth Pedal from Amazon.com. It arrived in a pack with air bags for packaging, all seemed find. That is, until I tried using it. It turns on, but it doesn't...

It sounds like the DSP in the pedal is repeatedly resetting... A dead battery or an incorrect power adapter is a common cause of this problem.

You haven't told us what "signal" you ran in... Make sure ALL interconnected equipment is powered from the same receptacle. All audio lines should use balanced interconnects where possible using XLR or TRS cables. Cross connect another amps preamp into the effect loop input to check the power amp portion.

I was trying to hook up our 1604 vlz3 at our church and was wondering how the best way to do this?

Without knowing the resources you are connecting I cannot give you a schematic but will give this GENERAL advice:

1. Use BALANCED lines to connect from the mixer to your amps, preferably XLR connections.

2. Service the power to the amps and the mixer from the SAME place even if it means stringing a power cable alongside you audio cable snake.

Popping sound through sound system speakers

make sure that the trim (gain) isnt set too high on your keyboard's PA channel. it might just be clipping due to input levels that are too hot.
