The reality is that almost everyone ends up using two remotes. One to turn the tv on and off plus adjust the volume plus the second remote to change channels within cablevision.

Call cable vision and complain. They could upgrade your remote if they chose to so u could do it all on one remote. Hope this explanation helps you. Joe
