Question about Canon PowerShot A80 Digital Camera
This is a known issue for Canon. Please send the camera to the Canon repair facility in New Jersey to have the CCD imager replaced. There is no cost to repair the camera due to the widespread nature of this problem. Good luck my friend! Joe Weibel (customelectronics.org)

SOURCE: LCD Screen does not work properly
Your camera works just like a film camera SLR,. You use the eyepiece to frame and focus your picture. The LCD screen is for reviewing pictures taken or menu operations. You cannot preview a shot on screen before it is taken with the camera.

By coincidence, Canon just repaired and returned my niece's Powershot A60 just this week. They did a great job repairing, but also cleaned it. Not only does it operate as if new, but swear it also looks brand new now.

LCD functions properly until it is rotated 180 degrees and inserted into the back of the camera (so that you can view it like conventional LCD), then the LCD turns off. This is a problem because the LCD must be configured in this position to use with underwater housing.
