I'm getting an E100 error on our machine.The scanner light only goes halfway, and returns to the starting position and then the E100 error comes up.I was an electronic technician for twenty years, but I have never repaired a printer copier before-I am currently a business owner/partner and if possible, I'd like to repair it myself whether it is an electronic or mechanical problem.Thank you!.......dr

Re: error message E100
Sorry I couldn't find a free one anywhere, but here you can get the service manual for all the other canon pc models for $11.99 if that would be any use to you;
Also had no luck with a user manual, canon do not appear to acknowledge this product on any of their sites that i have found although it is listed in many other places.
It does sound like a mechanical problem though - somehow the drive belt or pulley is out of sync, blocked by something or damaged -
Hope this helps :)

Laser scanner unit error.
Turn off the printer, and then turn it on again. If the same error occurs, turn off the printer, then contact the store you purchased the printer, or a service representative. When contacting the service representative, inform them of the error code displayed and symptoms.
Error Code: E100 0000
The most common cause for E100 is the drum unit. At the rear of the
drum unit should be a small peg pointing into the machine. This gets
broken off. It's purpose is to opperate a laser cut off shield when the
drum is removed so to prevent laser exposure. If peg is missing laser
will not be detected by the system and give E100. Can be repaired or
will require a new drum if it has done more than 40 to 60K copies.
The error is from the scanner. It is possible the scanner lock on the underside of the scanner has shifted and not allowing the scanner to correctly return to the home position. Try Checking the scanner lock and make sure it is not in the locked position. Then turn off and on your machine while holding the menu/set button. the machine will come up either with an error or in maintenance mode. either way enter 99 and see what you get. Maintenance mode is a dangerous place to play around in. 99 exits maintenance mode. 91 resets all parameters to factory setting except stored locations like phone numbers and location information. 01 resets every thing to factory. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN MAINTENANCE MODE. CCDHP is scanner home position sensor. It will probably reset just by turning the machine off and on.
