SOURCE: feed dog switch

Did you turn the handwheel? The feed teeth will not come up until the machine is operated. Run it a few stitches and they will come up.

There is a white button on the front of the machine to the right - it has likely been pressed in to drop the feed. Press it in and release so the button comes out - that should solve the problem.

SOURCE: Thread ball up

Check your bobbin area. Make sure you have put the bobbin in the case with the H logo up and the thread pulls off the spool in a counter clockwise motion. Make sure the bobbin is sitting in the case and threaded through the "catch" on the bobbin case. Then leave a long piece of thread from the bottom, holding the end of the top thread, lower the needle for one revolution using the handwheel. Does the top thread catch the bobbin thread and pull it to the top? This is done without fabric. Your checking to determine if the top thread catches the bobbin thread and pulls it to the top. IIf it does not, it is most likely hook/needle timing. f it does, gently pull on the bobbin thread and determine if it pulls through with a little resistence (checking bobbin tension). Make sure you are using correct needle -- Schmitz or Inspira needles are recommended (Universal size 80 is standard). Make sure you are using Husqvarna Viking made for your machine -- original ones were green but there are some new colored ones but all have the Husqvarna logo on them. Otherwise take it to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. You can find your closest dealer at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us Good luck

The little white button on the lower right front of the machine is the button that drops the feed teeth. If it is pressed in the feed teeth are down, push in a lift upward to be sure it's in the "Up" position. Then look on the left side of the machine, you'll see a dial, (NOT the dial facing you as you sit in front of the machine) make sure the red dot on the dial is lined up with the red dot on the painted part of the machine.
Finally look at the dial on the front of the machine. The one with the little button in the center of it. Put it on the number 3. If your machine doesn't feed fabric after doing what I've outlined then you need to take it in for service.

The machine does not feed the fabric The stitch length is too short. Press the + button. The feed dog may be lowered. Raise it by pressing the feed dog button. See page 9. The presser foot pressure is disengaged. See page 9. The feed dog is full of dust and dirt. Clean with the brush.

Feed dog on viking 6690 are frozen down...how do I fix this

Hello Mary

There may be various reasons for the feed dogs staying down. Let's start with the most obvious ....
The Viking 6690 features a 'Presser Foot Pressure Dial' located on the left side of the sewing machine head. It is probably turned down to the thin end of the wedge or may even be parked on the rectangle ... this will cause the feed dogs to stay down. Turn the dial toward the wider part of the wedge symbol. The feed dogs will come up as the sewing machine makes a stitch.

Please let me know how this works out for you.

Happy stitching.

Have Viking 990 and feed dogs not working. Local repair man kept for over a month and then said it was the circuit board and that Viking no longer making circuit board for 990-- or, that machine can't be...

Is it that the feed dogs won't go up and down, or that you can't adjust the stitch length? If the feed dogs won't go up and down after you have released the feed dog button and cycled the handwheel one revolution, than there is a mechanical adjustment needed. I the stitch length can't be ajdusted, that It's either a circuit board of a step motor problem. The repair shop should be able to tell you that they swaped the feed motor with the zig zag motor to test this issue.

Raise feed dog

I have a different model Viking with a feed dog button to the left of the power button. When it's pressed down, the feed dog stays in the "down" position. Press it again to bring the feed dog up.
