SOURCE: Lost Ethernet and Wireless Connections in Modem

I've not used one of these 2wire boxes before, but I believe the default router's address is 192.168.0.1. Try this instead of gateway.2wire.net to see if you can gain access to the router. This is just the starting point, but see if it works.

Here's a link to, what I believe is, the router's manual.

Before you rate this please let me try to help some more. This could be a multi step process...

SOURCE: how to connect my Linksys

The Linksys Wireless router is fine, but your latop is not configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The computer is connected to the router at layer 2, whereas HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), sits
atop the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) layer, and seems to be trying to
query the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) network for a nameserver (via DNS (Dynamic Name Service) protocol) that doesn't exist on the ISP's network. Configuring the laptop for DHCP and specifying no nameserver will fix this (the ISP's network will dynamically assign a DNS).

Its also possible (though a remote possibility) that your Linksys wifi router may be configured to disallow TCP/IP virtual circuits to/from your computer's IP address - but this is a really advanced
capability of your Linksys wifi router - few know this capability even exists.

Connecting multiple wifi devices to the Linksys router should be no problem, just configure them all to interact with the router using DHCP.

Wi fi is on but still can't connect to the internet

Not only does Wi-Fi have to be on, but it has to be connected to a wireless access point (sometimes called a wireless router), and the wireless access point has to be properly connected to the internet. If the wireless access point/router has empty ports on it, plug your computer into one of those ports, and see if you can connect to ther internet then. If you can, the problem is somewhere between the wireless access point/router and the computer. Could be the transmitter part of the wireless router, could be the wireless network adapter on your computer, or could be the driver that runs the wireless adapter on the computer. If you cannot access the internet when you plug into the wireless ap/router, then you need to go one step "upstream." This would likely be the cable modem or DSL modem. Plug directly into that with your computer, and reboot both the modem and the computer (just unplug the power from the modem and then plug it back in to reboot the modem). If you can connect to the internet then, the problem is the wireless router/ap. If you cannot connect to the internet then, contact your ISP.

I can not connect my i phone

Hi,

From your problem description it looks like you want to connect your iPhone to your wireless home network?

Whenever you use a internet enabled application your iPhone will connect to the most recent used Wi-Fi network(access point/router).

If the last used network is not available, then your iPhone will list all available networks in range.

If you are in range of your wireless router, then it will be listed in the available networks box.
To see all the Wi-Fi networks in range, from the Home screen choose Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap a network to join it. If needed enter a password. The password will be the security password you set on your router(WEP/WPA key).

If you do not know your password, you can read my tech article by clicking here. It will go over how to obtain your router password.

If there are no Wi-Fi networks available then your phone will use the cellular data network and fee's may apply.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
G33k

  2. In your web browser, open 192.168.1.1, enter witribe for the password
  3. Click on Local Address on the left
  4. Notice the 3rd column are all 1s, change them to 2
  5. Save your settings. From now on, to access this page again, you'll need to acces 192.168.2.1
  6. Now unplug your computer from your modem, then plug the modem into the router's internet port
  7. Plug your computer to one of the router's ethernet port

if you were using Fariya before wi tribe or any other dialer to connect internet, you have to first remove that one.

To remove the dialer or connection you have to go to run, type ncpa.cpl there and then in new opened window remove the old connection (e.g Fariya)
