I am trying to put new ink cartridges ito the epson stylus ns400 series epson ink jet printer. how do I do that?

    i am trying to install ink cartridges into a new NX400 but the cartride holder doesn't move to the left enableing me to load the ink?

Hold the ink button down for 3 seconds, the carriage unit will move out to allow you to change the cartridge

    Sorry, wrong product, thaught it was a stylus 400.



    The NX400 is not available in Australia, But I will look it up and let you know shortly

    Ok, the equal in Australia is the TX400, You should be able to scroll through the menu to the ink. Alternatively, you should be able to tell the unit that you want to change your ink through the preferences. Your status monitor in the start menu on your screen will lead you into changing your cartridges. Have a dig around that and see how you go.

We try to steer people away from new Epson printers unless they plan on purchasing a professional model. The new Epson cartirdges have little ink and finicky. I would try power cycling the machine with the cartridges removed (unplug it for 30sec.) then reinstall the cartridges. If the problem persist call Epson and let them know what you think. If they don't help you, buy an HP. But but an HP that takes integrated print head cartridges or you'll be in the same situation.

Replace Ink Cartridges
Your Epson Stylus NX110 Series and its software will let you know when an ink cartridge is low or expended.
If ink is low, the ink light flashes. You can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement.
If a cartridge is expended, the ink light stays on. You must replace the cartridge to be able to print.

Warning:
Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children and do not drink the ink.
Note:
If you need to change a cartridge before it or any other cartridges are low or expended, run the Ink Cartridge Replacement utility.

You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expended. Replace any expended cartridges before printing or copying.

Leave your old cartridges in the Epson Stylus NX110 Series until you are ready to replace them to prevent the print head nozzles from drying out.
When an installed ink cartridge is more than six months old, you may need to replace it if your printouts do not look their best, even after cleaning and aligning the print head.

His could be because epson print jets plug up. and usualy cost more to repair than to purchase new printer. i had epson and now buy HP because hp when you replace the ink cartridge the spray jets are incorporated into the cartridge the only thing you have to be carefull of is that somel manufactures now put a chip on the cartridges to expire the units so they can sell you another even if you dont use the ink HP included so look for exp. date on new units. look into food warehouses like sams. costco, Bjs etc. they usualy have good prices on printers. sunday paper is also a good place to look.

I've got the Epson Stylus DX 8400 printer. when I put the cartridge,this message come up: "ink cartridges cannot be recognized." txs
I had the same problem too.  I went to the Epson website and they gave instructions to shake the cartridge 4-5 times prior to installing.   It worked!!!  I tried alot of things before I saw that I needed to shake the cartridge.  Definitely give this a try if you haven't already.

Epson Stylus Printer CX4600
Hi,

I don't know if this will work on an Epson, but it does on Cannon. The pads on the cartridges or the ink jets in the printer head may be cloged with dry ink. Get some Q-tips and rubbing alcohol (water is a poor substitute). Take out the ink cartridges and touch the pad on the bottom with a Q-tip (one for each color). If there is color the cartridge pad is OK. Take a fresh Q-tip dip it in rubbing alcohol and GENTLY rub the little holes on the bottom of the plastic box the cartridges go in. Thse are the print head jets. You should see color. You may need to clean it a couple of times if the ink has dried down into the jets. It is OK to have the Q-tip pretty wet, but not dripping.

Changing black & colour ink cartridge
My guess is that it will be the non gen carts they cause heaps of trouble, beleive me. Hard to tell you for sure but the first thing I would do if you brought it in for repair would be to put in manufactures cartridges.
