My phone was in my pocket for about two hours and when I next looked at it, the service light on the front stayed on. It had been like this for about two days now that the light will not turn off! The light is on even when I turn off my phone. I tried removing the battery a few times and then turning the phone back on again and it still stays the same. Even if the batter is not attached to the phone, it the phone is attached to the charger the light stays on. I wouldn't mind so much except I like that the light alerts me to any missed calls or texts, and I think this problem will drain my batter faster. HELP!!

What make vehicle do you have Mark , it could make a difference ! Some vehicles have lighting control modules that short internally keeping the lights on , others have relays that the contacts say closed keeping the lights on. You could look at a wiring diagram an see what all is involved in that circuit ,what controls those lights ! Go to www.bbbind.com there are free wiring diagrams an TSB'S - technical service bulletins . On the home page click on Technical Information - next page click on - All TSB's and diagrams for every make and model - FREE - next page go to the bottom of the page an click on I agree . Next page click on wiring diagrams , then enter your vehicle information .Next under system click lighting , then under subsystem click parking lamps . Good luck Mark , hope this helps !
Personally I would do a complete engine service, for example Air and Oil filters, Oil and Plugs (it may also be worth changing the coolant as I am not certain of the parameters that are monitored by the system) If the light still remains on then the most likely problem is the Engine Managment Unit or a sensor.
The light is set to light by milage and it is to let you know that the next service is due. This is reset by removing the rubber grommet that is to the left lower corner of the speedometer and depress the reset button.
WELL IF SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON YOU HAVE A FAULT IN ONE OF THE SENSORS.YOU NEED TO SCAN CAR WITH CODE SCANNER SO YOU CAN FIX THE FAULTY SENSOR.THEN ERASE CODE.IF YOU DONT FIX THE PROBLEM THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WILL STAY ON.
What has happened is that the engine computer has seen an emission or operational problem of a nature that causes it to turn on the "service engine" light. The light will stay on, in most cases, until the problem has been repaired and the service code has been erased. There are a few instances where the light will turn off if the computer doesn't see the problem for several drive cycles but in the majority of instances the problem doesn't go away and the light stays on. You should have the vehicle hooked up to a scan tool at a service facility so the service codes can be read and a diagnosis can be made of what the problem is. There are multiple items and reasons that can cause the light to come on and really no way to know why it is on until the codes are looked at.
