Lamp On 3-9-2007 my tv started turning off by itself. I would turn the tv on again and then 5 minutes later it turned off. also I have the red light blinking on the word Lamp. Also I've notice i have little blue spots that are spreading all over the screen and no picture. Please Help, Thank You, Maybelle Tabo Tabo

tv stays on but it will not come on unless you continuosly press on off button

Sony Fixes the blue pattern problems for all Rear Projection TVs.There is a class action suit against Sony.
Go to Sony website or call (888) 649-7669.

Sony pays for all repair and even reimburses if one fixes and pays from the pocket.

Sounds like the ballast and lamp need replaced

Three flashes is lamp cover/lamp position error, it means the lamp cover is not set right, or the lamp is not in the right position. There are two micro switches to detect the lamp position, and lamp cover. Please reset the lamp and the lamp cover (door).

Have you even replaced the bulb / lamp on this TV - other than the green light - did they turn solid red / orange at any point? My initial thought is you need to replace the bulb.

Tv turned off by itself, red light came on. when i turned it back on if had a flashing green light the turned solid green, there was sound but no picture, it turned off again within 2 minutes of turning it...

When I turn on my tv the green light gomes on and the picture starts to come up then after about ten to fifteen seconds the tv goes off but the green light stays on, then like one minute later the picture...

The 5 blinks error code means that the lamp driver is faulty. How good are your electronics/soldering skills?

Just replaced lamp a week ago and tv worked fine

2 things will cause this Lamp is defective, or Fan to lamp quits running this will shut TV OFF, if the fan quits running while Lamp is on it is design to shut Lamp Off to prevent Damage to Lamp IF Fans are ok It will be the Ballast board It is what turns Lamp on.Look on E-Bay for Ballast board if it turns out thats what you need or call Encompasss Electronics 1-800-638-3328

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

Yup, it seems a lamp problem can give a blinking green light over the 10 times (1 - 10 times for diagnostic codes), but in my case rather than replace the bulb if it works for a minute then resets with the green light blinking, do what I did.
Take the lamp out and inspect it, it has breather screens top and bottom, if it cant breath because there clogged with dust, clean them, and you can remove the screens, use q-tips and clean the inside. I saved the cost of a lamp and it's working fine!

alright guys...blew a bulb....fixed that. still didint work...found out it was ballast...replaced that. tv worked for a month..all the sudden hdmi input didint work id plug in my playstation and screen would turn green and say "hdmi color has been corrupted" im thinking wtf? so a week later it works fine then just turns off in middle of watching espn... comes back on an hour later...only to turn off again...it just turns black for ten seconds then just turns off and the red and green lights blink at intervals of one second....replaced a bulb..not that, same problems.......when the tv comes on for the ten minutes before it quits working the pic and sound are great i just dnt get it...is it shorting out? color wheel bad? a fan?

Shutting off and on...

the problem may be due to dry soldering in the power supply stage if it was with the lamp there would be red or green light showing the presence of the power to the tv after making it own some of the components get hot and it will make the the soldering point conectionless and after some time the heat sink get cooled and the soldering point gets connected and u will see the picture again it is a simple problem if u have a soldering iron u make it hot and re solder all the components in the first part of the circuit board and the problem if rectified
