My "NEW" ,out of the box, Lexmark X1270 seems to be installed correctly. However, it will not print at all,,,no test page or anything.
The scanner seems to be working fine as it scans and saves.
My question is this,,,isn't the scanner/printer installed correctly if the scanner will work? The USB plug and power cord are fine if the scanner will work.
When I check, the printer is highlighted/checked and "Ready". Documents load but will not print.
One msg I received said that "the printer was busy"..!!?? Nothing was printing. Another said, "Printer not communicating with computer"
Why can the scanner function work but not the printer?
I have loaded and unloaded the program using the original disc many times. Checked firewalls and downloaded a driver.
Still not printing? I wish I had read up on the printer before purchasing it.
With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the
driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into
the USB port until told to do so.
To fix a fouled install :
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the sofware asks for the printer connect it and continue

Ok! there is two methods ok! turn off your printer and restart your computer and make sure that the computer recognizes your printer and once thats done make sure that once recognize you could install the drivers to your printer. Try that if not hit me back...
make sure the usb cable is properly connected and the driver is installed. Go to printer and faxes option and choose the printer model which you installed just right click on it you will see the option of use printer online. Also I suggest you to change the usb port and the cable also still if you facing the problem follow these steps, right click on my computer and go to properties then hardware in that click on device manger and check there is any other device is listed if it is there just remove it and click for scan for hardware changes when he prompt for driver reinstall the driver cd. Make sure you install the driver properly and check the test print also .still if u fail check all this setting and follow this steps,1st you install the driver disc which is come along with the printer and when the software prompt you to connect the cable then plug the usb cable and follow the instruction. Have a nice day and do not forget to rate please...!
I guess you are not selecting a printer while you giving print command.
Click on Print, A rectangle box opens with options, on top you will see name, see it shows your printer name "Lexmark X1270 and not microsoft office document writer.
If correct printer is selected then it wont save an image or word file, it will perfectly print your document.
For the Lexmark 1270, go to www.lexmark.com and click on DRIVERS AND DOWNLOADS. Then use the DRIVER FINDER. In SEARCH BY MODEL, type in 1270 and you can choose a driver from there.
hello I want to install my printer lexmark x1270
please send me an email that how I can set up it
'i sent two emails
I need help please
hurry I do not have time to sit behind this stupid computer
A clicking noise from the scanner is probably caused by the driver for the scanner.
Resolution
1. Download the latest driver from www.lexmark.com. 2. Once the driver is installed, power the printer off and back on again.
Additional information
The original driver CD for the X1200 printers had part number 17M4160, and some early X1200s were shipped with this driver CD. When the X1200 was manufactured with a new scanbar, the updated driver CD became part number (PN) 17M4360. The updated CD should have been included in the box of new products being shipped. If the X1200 is making a "clicking noise" when you try to scan and the CD PN 17M4160 was installed, you need to download and install the web driver which supports ALL the X1200 printers. NOTE: The X1200 driver CD PN 17M4360 works with ALL X1200s also.
