Sony CMT-CPX22 CD Shelf System 5 cds stuck in changer

Friend forced tray closed and disc or discs are misaligned and will not open. All other functions were working fine before this happened. I removed outer shell cover, but am fearful of doing anything beside push here and there to try and free the discs. "OPEN" shows on read out but no movement. Can I free this myself or is a technician required? If I need a technician, what is closed SONY repair shop to my residence? I live in Hapmpton Bays, NY 11946 Thanks for any assistance. BEN

SOURCE: Sony CMT-EP515 CD Shelf System. CDs wont play.

It could be 3 things.
1. the Laser carrier may be stuck and may need to be gently pried from centre to outskirt and back.
2. your cd spinning motor has gone and needs to be replaced,
3. your laser carrier motor has gone and needs to be replaced,
hope it helps.

I have got a Sony CMT-EX100 Micro System. When I touch the OPEN/CLOSE-button on the top, the system doesn't open. I opened the system and it seems that the magnetic disc-holder holds the disc-tray too...

This problem is easily repaired! The belt that drives the mechanism is worn out (relaxed) and slides on the motor pulley. Just open the device (from the bottom and then drag the body up by removing the edges). You have to put a new belt section ø 35 mm 1 mm and the unit will work again.

Sony CMT-hpx7 - CD changer is stuck with 2 CDs inside. Any ideas how to open it without destroying either the CDs or the stereo? Any help would be appreciated!

it a bit complicate to open
you can try but you need to remember what you open so you can put back in the same order
try this
first open the back cover you should be able the see the inside then you need to open the top cover now the changer can be open without power you need to locate the motor and turn the the belt or the wheel slowly and it wil take the disc out. """"""dont turb back""
you need to plug the power and let it go back alone after that disconnect the power and put back everything

its not so easy so before you do it make sure that you can open and put back

Hope it will help

Help - CD won't eject! I press 'Open' on my sony CMT-EX1 system and the CD moves backwards as though it's going to eject but then it stays there, unreachable. Then the display begins to switch between...

I have the same problem and it's due to dirt!
I'm going to try using compressed air, but -
this definitely works:

:) Seriously:

tilt the cd player to a 45 degree angle (flat, basically - as if they tray were horizontal.)

I had my player for 10 or 12 years, and this problem is only coming up now. My house gets very dusty.

Also - vertical load disc players are hard to clean. X_X (inside the disc tray)

I love this stereo too!
I don't want to have to go out and buy another stereo!

CMT-BX1 won't play CD's - "No Disc"

If they're clean (i.e. not scratched up or dirty) store-bought CDs (burnt CDs can be iffy in some players), then yes you should return it.

CD tray doesn't open

if the unit actually tries to open but does not, it is not locked. a locked unit does not even try to open. it sound like a mechanical misalignment. take it back to get a new one, since it's only 2 days old.

CD malfunction

It sounds like you have put a disc in the tray that the system can not read, so it will just keep trying to read the disc over and over again. If you turn everything off by the plug and wait a few mins the whole system should stop. Put the plug back in and as soon as you turn your system on, try and press the disc open key before the lens gets a chance to start reading it again. If this does not work you may just have a disc jammed. So you will have to get someone to check it out for you if you do not understand what you will be doing, because you may do more harm than good to your system. Good luck.
