I bought the tv new in 2000 and it's worked with no problems. Recently, when turning on the tv it automatically shuts off about a second later. The power button turns green but within the second it shuts itself off. Power is connected but the tv won't stay on. Mitsubishi recommended unplugging for 15 minutes and pressing A/V Reset but neither worked.
Same problem with ours recently, loose connections in front of the unit....repaired and color adjustments by a local TV service man Charge for labor 85.00 other $45
for complete adjustment of color....it's great now....

Sounds like you might need a new power board. I know videogame911 does service PSP's your best bet might be to send it in to someone who can tell you exactly what the problem is, specially if you replaced the battery and still have the same issue.
I have the same issue on my Vizio M470NV. I called Vizio and they told me it is a self diagnostic test that is shutting down the TV automatically to protect it. They said they are working on fixing the issue with a firmware update that will be pushed out automatically if you are connected to the internet. No ETA given on when that would happen. I called them on the 3/14/11 and my TV is still shutting down randomly.
Have you done a channel search on both tv sources(atv and dtv). most new tv's will automatically start will "New Install". If you havent had a digital installed recently then this could the problem. set top boxes and TV's will pick up the signal ok but others wont.
I too have a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 tv and the issue that you are experiencing is due to one of your fans in the rear of the tv is not working. The tv automatically shuts off in protective mode. Make sure the POWER/STANDBY light is blinking and not the lamp light below it. Is the power/standby blinking 4 times in red? If, yes then its a fan that needs to be replaced. If its the lamp light blinking then you need to replace the lamp. The lamp is easy to replace by ordering the lamp either from Sony for $250 or find it cheaper for approx. $150 from other DLP sources and replace youself by following your manual. I hope this helps you.
If you can find an inexpensive repair shop, I'd try that. For example, we have a place in town with an honest repairman who will fix about any issue with TVs/stereos. If he cannot fix it, he will not charge.
I would think that this problem is on the power supply. Perhaps a cap or transistor on the output side of the PS. I am not a technician though so I can't be sure. This is just a common symptom/solution from what you've described.
