My PC doesn't see my Sansa e260 MP3 player. It doesn't show up under device manager or under My Computer. We've done the Windows troubleshooting for USB devices. Still can't see the player. We've tried this on a desktop PC and a laptop PC. The desktop has Windows MediaPlayer 11; the laptop has Windows Media Player 10.
We've tried both MTP and MSC modes.
Can anyone suggest a solution?

An Update: that yellow square means that it is not recognised, I missed it on the first read through. It means you do not have the required driver to run this application. First port of call is Microsoft Support and see if they have any thing, else Google it and try to find a free one that supports your player. Sorry about my previous post.
sounds like a firmware program problem and will have to be replaced. You could download an updated firmware but you will have to get a pc connection.
After your device is plugged in, are you able to go to
"my computer" and see a drive folder that has your device on it.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
Seems like your windows doesnt recognize your device...In order to solve your problems please make sure you follow the steps below...I would recommend that if you dont windows media player 11 to upgrade to 11...Then go under device manager to see if your device is listed there..to get to the device manager..click on your start menu, right click on my computer and then clikc on properties, hardware and then device manager...device manager will show you all the devices that you have install on your computer....If the device is listed under disk drives uninstall it and then unplug the device and replug it back...Also you want to make sure that you have your device connected on the back of your computer..For further assistance please contact me...
I hope this helps..

Did you check in Device Manager to see if the device has any errors listed?
With the device connected Right Click on Computer>Properties>Hardware Tab>Device Manager button.
Check for any red or yellow errors on the Sansa device. If there are errors, right click on it and select uninstall. Disconnect the device and then reconnect it to your computer.
If thats not it, do you have Administrator Rights on the PC? If not you will need to switch to Administrator account and follow the steps at the top.

Best of Luck.
Are you formatting it thru Windows Media Player or My Computer?
If its WMP, try under My Computer, if it was under My Computer, try using Disk Management. Right click on My Computer and select Manage. Then in the next window, select Disk Management on the left side. ON the right side at the top, you should see your device listed, right click and select format.
If your device does not show up in Disk Management, change the mode on the device via Settings>Mode or USB Mode.
Best of Luck.
