In the draining cycle there is a grinding noise and the machine does not drain. when you remove the filter the small white impeller from the back falls out also. I think this is the cause of the problem. Should the impeller be "fixed" somehow to the drive of the motor? i.e. has a small fiing grommet or similar been washed away....? Do I need to get a new impeller and if so from where?
Cheers, have made a small running repair at present where I have glued the impeller to the motor shaft. I will look for a pump, and get it for when the running repair fails. Thanks for the help

Yes, it ought to be fixed on. Best plan is to take the motor off the back of the pump body, then do a web search on "Askoll Pump". Compare the one with the pictures on the other. Askoll pump motors are fitted to most UK machines these days, are easy to buy and fit, and a good deal cheaper than replacing the entire pump. If the motor doesn't look like an Askoll, a complete Indesit replacement Pump is a little under £30 on the net, so all is still not lost. A.
