It is a preamplifier with sound processing which is sometimes referred to as pre pro... There is a simple solution to lack of DTS, the unit has 5 analog bypas inputs, bypass as they do not go through units Digital Signal Processing circuitry and DD processor.
If you have a DVD/BD player that has five (or more) analog outpusts you plug them in into your preamp and have the player decode DTS to analog signal. If the player has five analog outputs it mostly like has the on-board decoder. Other than this you can use a stand-analog DTS decoder in the same manner but it sounds like a cumbersome and costly alternative. Hope this helps.
