Tags: Tech News, Tutorials If you are a normal computer user who has forgot his BIOS password and you are unable to access to your BIOS, then you need a simple way to change your BIOS. Its not that hard because you just need a simple trick to reset your BIOS password.
Open your CPU cabinet after switching OFF the power and then try to locate the CPU battery which can be found very easily. Once you locate your battery you need to remove it once and restart your PC without the battery.

Hello,
There are 2 ways you can reset your bios2_bing.gif.

1. On the motherboard there is a small watch battery. Remove this battery along with the power cable from the power supply. Hold down the power button to fully discharge the system. Wait 2-3 minutes then reinstall the battery and plug in2_bing.gif your system. Your reset is now complete

2. Some motherboards have a 3 pin jumper by the battery. Lets say that the jumper is on pins 2 and 3. Remove the jumper while the machine is OFF and place onto pins 1 and 2. Power on your machine for a minute. (Note: Your system will not POST). Shutdown your machine and put the jumper back to pins 2 and 3. Your reset is now complete

This is a great troubleshooting2_bing.gif step for those of you having POST issues or no POSTing at all. Like other troubleshooting steps, this will not always work but usually will depending on the problem.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

Read the manual. it will tell you the process.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Sony Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Look for manuals and search them for Bios Password or Bios Password Reset.

If you have never changed since you bought your laptop, it should be ADMIN (I think it is not case sensitive, try both). If it doesn't work, write again.
If it does, please rate. Thank you

Bios Chip

BIOS chip is on the motherboard - you would obviously have to access the MoBo first..... It will have the manufacturers name on it, something like Award/phoenix/AMI & it may very well be soldered in. BE WARNED - altering/flashing the BIOS should only be attempted by ADVANCED users otherwise you will say goodbye to your PC. Regards, Freddie
