Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera
When i turn my almost new camera on it shows a black screen and reads "access" and them "turn the power off and on again" I have tried this many times but it just keeps doing the dsame thing over and over. I can view my photos no problems but nothing else. Any ideas? I'd take it back to the Sony store I bought it from in the UK at Christams but I am currently in OZ... without a camera now! Thanks Franco
I had the same problem. i was at the beach and all of a sudden it wouldnt retract and the shutters didnt close. i had to use a thing toothpick to try to close the shutters. i held the shutter, pressed the power button and voila, it finally retracted and i can now take pictures. i still think my shutters are jammed but im just glad i am able to take pictures now.

I have had the same exact problem..my camera works in the review pictures mode, but does not work in taking pictures..a message comes up saying turn the camera off and on again..well i believe the lenses were jammed, b/c i followed the previous guy's solution by pulling out the lense gently with my hand when i turned the camera on, and now its works fine and the error message is gone. Thanks David Millier!

This is what sony cameras do when the lens has become jammed. There are multiple different reasons that the lens can jam but the result is the camera being unable to move it as expected and presenting that error message. Sometimes the lens can be manipulated gently (if extended at all) and freed from the jammed state. Failing this, disassembly is required. Check with your manufacturer for warranty service status and recalls. If they will not cover it you can find a repair provider online. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

I had the same problem. Gently pulled the lens free and it worked. My employee is in the field daily with dirt and dust so this is no suprise. Just posting in support that this does seem to be the solution for "turn the power off and on again" for aSony Cybershot DSC-W50 . Thanks
