When I put a dvd into my Sanyo Cinema Progressive dvd player the display says "reading" for a long time and the displays "no play". It doesn't matter if it is a brand new never played dvd or an older one. I cannot find my owners manual and therefore cannot troubleshoot the problem. Any ideas or do I have to buy a new dvd player?

Re: screen displays "no play"
The dvd is having a problem with the lens clean it ,if that does not work take it to a tech to adjust the lens or replace them there is also a flat strip that leads from the lens body to the circuit board this should be change.good luck.

Hello This DVD player has no front panel display. Its front panel have ony two LED light indications, out of which, one is for power On indication and the other for p-scan [Progressive Scan] which will ight up when you select Progressive Scan function. There are three push button switches, for Open/Close, Play & Stop. It has only ON-Screen display system, which will be active only after connection the DVD player to tV. OK. http://www.dataentryjobs.us/67948.html
The output signal maybe set to S-video and the input connector does not have S-video capability. Change the output signal or use a HDMI cable. If the connection is via progressive cable (three leads), the colors maybe mismatched.
With the remote: While in STOP mode, press the DISPLAY button. Use up/down buttons to select SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select CUSTOM.Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select SCREEN SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select PROGRESSIVE. Press Enter. The manual is a bit indistinct after this, but I think the prompts will direct you. Just turn Progressive OFF. Owner's Manual page 61, link http://www.sonystyle.com/wcsstore/SonyStyleStorefrontAssetStore/pdf/DVPNS57P.pdf
follow the steps it may help !!
Press STOP button.
? If playing a disc, press the STOP button twice so that ?STOP?, appears on the display.
Press and hold P.SCAN button on the remote control for over 5 seconds.
? Pressing and holding the button for over 5 seconds will select "Progressive Scan" and "Interlace Scan"
? When you select P.SCAN, "P.SCAN" will appear on the display.
? To set P.Scan mode for DivX discs, press the P.SCAN button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds with no disc in the unit (?'NO DISC" on the display), then load the DivX disc and play.
Remove any discs from the unit. Make sure your tv is on the blue screen. It should say "Progressive Scan Mode"....After removing the disc(s) from the disc changer, close the changer, press and hold the stop button on the unit, not the remote, for 5 seconds or more and it will reset to normal playing mode. Progressive Scan is typically only for TVs that use Progressive Scan....most normal TVs do not use progressive scan mode. Hope this helps...It worked for me!!!!
