Toshiba TLP-ET1 Multimedia Projector Logo
Johnathan Shires Posted on Mar 10, 2007

Blub goes out during use.

Power is correctly hooked up with standby light lit. When turned on the normal startup with the Toshiba ET1 logo and then to the input. Both the bulb and lcds are working fine but about 3-5 seconds after the inputs are up on the screen the buld goes out and the lights over the standby and lamp are solid red with the fan running in cooldown. This will happen each time I attempt to start up the projector. However if I start up the prjector again right after the fan turns off and returns to standby the time before the bulb shuts off again will decrease to before the Toshiba ET1 logo appears. The only thing I can think of is maybe a thermal switch problem but all fans seem to be running and the filter is clean. If anyone knows how to go about fixing on a minimal budget please leave me feed back. This is my first time using this site and I thank you ahead of time for your support. -John

I am almost positive now that the problem is in the lamp power supply but I am still confused why the bulb will turn on at all. If anyone can let me know if this sounds right it would be greatly appreciated.

Most fans have a sense line to detect the fan is working properly, Possible the sense circuit has failed. The unit should not start if it thinks the fans are not running. Possible thermal problem with the sense circuit, since your unit starts up then stops.

Toshiba 56hm66, lamp replaced but lights still blink

Check the circuit boards to see if any have failed. They are small cylindrical objects. If the tops of any of these are bulged instead of flat then they are bad and board will have to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Sounds like your power supply capacitors have failed. Google for Z1234TV and see if you can locate a power supply capacitor repair kit for your model.

Unit turning off after displaying red pc chip icon

Hi whitiezn

If you say that this unit is very new , it should on all accounts still be under warranty.

Contact your local Toshiba Service Centre and have this problem sorted out on their account - the machine should still be under warranty.
