Whenever a CD is loaded, it says 'loading' then, 'no disk'. DVD player still not working. I tried adjusting the variable resistors on the read head - no success. Just a note, I did this on another DVD player(portable type), but it could only play mp3, but gives the same message as above. Could it be a problem with the circuitry? Just think; 1.The motor that spins the cd seems to be spinning a bit slower. 2.Could it be there is faulty component(s) that just gone bad after prolonged use? If so, which one(s).
You might as well just replace the player, the cost to repair is more than a new one.

Then lens may need a damp isopropyl alcohol qtip run over it a few times, use 90%. If that doesnt work then try a cd cleaning disk to put in the player. The cd or dvd may also be too scratched to read.

SOURCE: Won't read Dvd/Cd as loaded
It is a problem of the optical head being covered up by foreign particles obscuring the optical lens. Try using a CD/DVD cleaner disc which has double brushes and one add some solvent which comes along with the pack.Simply play it & keep ejecting and inserting the disc makes the disc to spin, till your player starts reading it..............................sodeep

SOURCE: DVD Player Not loading Movies
optical sensor is burned out or the spindle is not spinning the disk to read it.

Same problem here. I've verified that the disk drive is spinning up, and the head moves slightly, but does not detect the data on the disk.
