Mine does this too. I think it has something to do with a self-cleaning cycle where the food chopper (miniature garbage disposal blade) runs to chop up debris. Mind runs this way every 30 washes or so (every 4-6 weeks), perhaps in response to water turbidity (soil sensing)

This may be the same problem we had, although the noise was more like grinding instead of buzzing. The motor shaft drives the pump and water can easily enter the motor bearing. This rusts the bearing which causes noise and slows down the motor, making the wash action even weaker than normal. Mfr claims there is no design issue but guess what? They have added a 2 cent barrier to prevent this problem on the replacement part. You cant buy just the motor, you get the entire motor/pump/disposal assembly and its pretty expensive, but basically you are replacing most of the working parts so the machine should be like new if the washing arms are not plugged (which they usually are).

Dishwasher makes an intermittent buzzing noise during the wash cycle and also sounds like a rattling noise in the door...

Check to see if there is water in the bottom of the DW after the buzzing sound is over.
If the water valve engages and no water flowing (Because water valve is turned off), it will make a buzzing sound
If not the problem, try to isolate the specific cycle time in which the buzzing sounds

It sounds like something's trapped in the pump touching the impeller. Drain the machine, isolate the electrics and see if you can access the pump, you may find a piece of debris or small article in the pipework.

Noisy Dishwasher

it is a capacitor to start the motor for the next cycle. I think it is inside the door. you may have to call a tech.

Dishwasher is making a loud noise

Sounds like there is something in the filter trap that is right before the mini disposal that is a fan blade, on top of the motor.

My dishwasher is making a loud buzzing noise but otherwise is working ok. What could the noise be?

Hi,
Check to see what is working or running when it is making the buzz...is it when the water is coming in ...then it would be the soleniod coil on the fill valve...
if it is when it is washing, then it would be the motor going bad...
if it is when it is draining, then it could be the pump if you have a separate one or it could be a soleniod that directs a flapper to run the water out...
lots of possibilities...

Whirlpool GU1500X dishwasher motor noise got loud

Hello- Yep- it's toast. A small seal on motor shaft failed, causing water to destroy bearings. Motor is about 100$. Installation instructions available if you choose that route. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed.- Thanks - Ed

Our Nautilus dishwasher won't turn on. I can hear a buzzing noise, but nothing is happening. Does anyone now what I should do?

The same thing happens with my dishwasher. I have made it work by doing the following. When you start up the cycle, turn the dial to just a tick before "start." If you hear the buzzing, but no water is running, unlock and then lock the dishwasher door again. This usually gets it running. If it's still not running water, unlock, advance the dial a little bit, and lock again. This should work. You need to be around for the early parts of the dishwashing cycle because this machine tends to stop up and buzz without running water until it gets past "short wash." Every time this happens, do the same thing, unlock and lock, and advance the dial a little when necessary. Once you get past "short wash," it should complete the wash without intervention.

Kenmore dishwasher

Mine eventually "fixed itself". I think some debris got caught and eventually (5 cycles or so) got ground up and sent through the drain. The noise changed each time it got closer "flushing out"
