Bottom agitator brush bar doesn't rotate.

Brush bar moves freely by hand and drive belt to motor is intact, but with Vacuum cleaner running the brush bar stays still?

First, check to make sure the brush bar is on. The switch is right next to the machine's on-off button, and it is easy to accidentally turn it off when you turn the DC 25 on or off.

Next, check for and clear any obstructions in the brush bar housing.

Finally, check for belt wear and replace if necessary. There is a very video online showing the procedure.

SOURCE: DC 07 BRUSH BAR DOES NOT TURN BELT OK

Stand vacuum up and with it plugged in. Rotate knob between carpet and bare floor and back 5 times leaving it on carpet when finished. Rotate vacuum back from upright position and lay vacuum on the floor, rotating it onto its side. Turn vacuum on.

SOURCE: Dyson vacuum cleaner-brush bar is frozen

Hi If your Dyson has a brush protection design - i.e. roller bar on the top of the hood on the left hand side then the DYson can't be repaired by you- serviceman or professional care can replace it.
However if the Dyson doesn't have the roller bar on top of the hood, flip the machine over so that the beater brush is facing upwards, locate three/four screw heads that can be undone with a coin and remove the sole plate assembly. This should give you a clean view of the brush bar, drive belt and dirt channel. Ensure everything is clean espcially if the brush bar has lots of hair or threads tightly corded around. Then locate the drive belt and check to see if it has snapped. Grasp the beater bar gently upwards and the belt and brush can then be removed. Fit a new belt on carefully and check the tension as it will be tight.

SOURCE: beater brush won't spin but belt is intact and ok.

For your beater brush to spin, you have to meet two conditions:
1) the vacuum cleaner has to be reclined (put your foot on the front and pull back on the handle).
2) The clutch actuator (the dial where you switch between BEAR FLOORS and CARPETS needs to be set to CARPETS).

If the brushbar/beater bar still doesn't spin after that, call the Dyson helpline, they will assist you. If you are saying that the brushbar isn't spinning because it is not picking up any dirt, you may have a loose internal hose, a blockage in the machine or the bristles on the brushbar are worn. Call the Dyson helpline for assistance.

SOURCE: my dyson vacuum brush bar will not rotate and the

I took the plate off and cleaned up the vacuum brush bar. Since the belt was not broke I knew that was not the problem. I know when the setting is bare floor, the brush bar will not rotate. That was not the problem. I just keep turning the knob from bare floor to carpet, several times. The setting must have been "off" just a bit because after several times turning it, it must have reset in the proper setting. The brush bar did start rotating just like normal.

Panasonic ecomax carpet bar won't drive

The first thing to check is make sure the belt is not broken or stretched. It is possible that a vacuum cleaner may need a new belt even if you just bought it. It may have been a year or more since it was assembled and had the belt installed. It may have spent some time in a warehouse and on the store shelf before making it to your home so the first thing to check is always the belt. If it has a stretch belt they must be stretched to almost twice their original length when installed on your vacuum and they lose elasticity. The rule of thumb in the vacuum industry is belts should be changed every three months for proper agitation. If the belt is not broken or stretched check to see if there may be something stuck in there preventing the brush roll from spinning freely.

The brush bar isn't going round ?

your problem seems to be the belt has snapped. Underneath the the hover there is a rubber belt that connects around the brush bar and around the motor, this belt will be broken. They can purchased from any hoover shop for a couple of pounds.

Hi,dyson dc25 overdrive,my brusher's wont go round,i have cleaned the brusher's and filter, loads of suction.the belt is intact and the roller move's feely by hand, could it be the switch

Hi Stephen,

I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your DC25 Overdrive. If the brush bar won't rotate, and you've already checked the cleaner head is free of obstructions, it's likely it just needs resetting.

You might like to take a look at the video below to make sure everything is correct with the machine. Once you've done this, if you turn the machine on, recline it into the vacuuming position, then press the silver brush control switch twice, this should reset the brush bar.

Brush roller not spinning. belt, spindle okay. roller taken out and cleaned, no thread. replaced but no dice. ???

Use only BISSELL Style 10 Replacement Belts (#32074) in your BISSELL PowerForce Bagless.
  1. Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet.
  2. With Rotating Floor Brush removed from vacuum cleaner, grasp old Drive Belt and remove from Motor Pulley. Discard old Drive Belt.
  3. Place new Drive Belt over Motor Pulley and stretch other end over Rotating Floor Brush in the space between the bristles.
  4. Place ends of Rotating Floor Brush down into slots on sides as shown.
  5. Turn Rotating Floor Brush by hand several times in the direction of Motor Pulley. If properly installed, Drive Belt will center itself on Rotating Brush.
  6. Reposition Brush Cover and snap back into place. Check to be sure all three latches are secured.
  7. When you turn on the vacuum, do you see the motor that spins the belt spinning at the bottom? If not, it sounds like you may have a burned out motor.

Canister vac - the motor on the cleaning head cuts out while vacuuming. does it as you draw back the head while cleaning , goes off momentarily and ten when pushed forward engages the motor again. this...

Unplug the vacuum then pull the bottom off the head and clean the brush. Check for debris on the brush and around the ends of the brush. Insure the brush moves freely. Check the motor by turning it by hand to see if it rotates freely. Check the belt to sdee if it is tight. When belts get old the will sometimes stretch and won't work properly. Hope this helps.

I have an Oreck XL2 and the brush is not rotating.

First, check to see if the drive belt for the brush is broken. If it is you need to get it replaced. Also, remove the brush from the cleaner and clean if of all debris then check the small caps at both ends of the brush. If they do not move freely, add a little WD40 and rotate by hand until they move freely. When putting the new belt on or replace the old one, be sure it is put on properly so the brush rotates in the right direction.

Vacuum turns on but the brush is not rotating

Most likely a problem with the drive belt or the beater brush. Either the drive belt is broken or the beater brush is frozen due to debris. If you can not turn the beater brush by hand, it should be removed and cleaned well. The ends of the beater brush that hold it into the vacuum should be lubricated with some WD40 and moved by hand until they are free. Once the turn freely, replace the beater brush. If the drive belt is broken or missing, it needs to be replaced.
