SOURCE: Brand new storio wont turn
First you need to check some basic things, like try to change the batteries and open the card reinsert it.
If still the problem exists, then the cause could be the internal board and for that the device not able to get the power.

Hi lrigney,
If the unit won't turn on, it is often caused by an electrostatic discharge. The easiest way to correct this is by resetting the unit. Please follow the steps below.
You can reset the Storio by:
1. Removing then replugging in the adaptor.
2. Then press the ON/OFF button again.
3. Remove the USB cable, reinsert the batteries and adaptor.
4. Replug the USB cable.
5. Remove any corrupted files and restart the downloading process.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Vtech storio not switching on when new batteries
Only had product for two days.when turn it on
a blue screen appears and nothing happens.cant turn it off
The blue screen seems to happen when you change the batteries (it's what happened to us). The blue screen indicates that there's a software problem, like when you boot up your computer and for some reason it freezes up. That software needs to be reinstalled. You'll lose anything that was saved on the v.reader, but at least you'll get it working again.
vtech could have made it a very simple problem to solve just by adding in their customer support: Blue Screen? follow these steps. But they don't, so here's how:
You'll need an SD card with at least 64mo of free space. If you want to use the one from your digital camera, transfert all of your pictures to the computer. Everything on the SD card will be erased.
Download the Recovery software from either link below (you can find both on the vtech website)
For the US version

For the Canadian english version

This is the link the the website page itself: http://www.vtechkids.com/download/ca/en
Run the program and follow the instructions (at least those are clear and easy to follow). Mine worked fine after that.
Hope that solves your problem.

Hope that helps
