I can't play dvd's on my daewoo dvd/vcr combo player. it was working fine until my nephew came over and played a "mini" disc that he recorded a home video on with his video recorder. He had played a couple of these "mini" discs a few times before and dvd player worked fine afterwards. Player now says it is "loading disc" then shows "unknown disc" message on screen. player is suppose to play region1 and non-region discs. won't play either of these types of discs now.
When Your DVD shows "LOADING" for quite some time and then if shows "UNKNOWN DISC" or "NO DISC", Open the cover of your DVD Player, Remove the flap over the disc by opening the screws. Remember that you are not keeping your eyes perpendicular to the lens. Now take Colin liquid in an ear buds and rub over the lens. Now with dry end of the bud, rinse it and make it dry. Keep the disc in the space provided for. Put on the Flap over the disc. And try to run it. I hope this would work fine.

Have you tryed to use a lens cleaning disc yet. The laser lens on these players and recorders alike, must have the lens cleaned every oince in awhile. If that does not help, most likly you have a bad laser pickup assembly and you will need to replace the plaer as to have that repaiered, you could buy a new unit. Good Luck

EVERY DVD I PUT IN MY DVD PLAYER IT STARTS READING THEN IT STOPS AND SAYS NO DISC
Well, I put a video in mine and it does absolutely nothing! But it is not a dvd player, but a video player.
I am not putting in anything of objectional content. I don't even own those kinds of things. I am trying a video that it has played before, like Easter Parade, or The Bandwagon. Still nothing.
