I just had to replace the battery in my car -- after the new battery was installed my jvc kd-s640 cd player displayed this error 10 message & it wont do any functions at all --- help me please --- i need my stero so i wont go bonkers on the drive to work & home ! thank you !
Same issue but pressing Power and SEL would not reset unit. Found solution. Once again disconnected the car battery. Removed the face unit from the radio base and then reconnected the battery. Replacing the face unit AFTER the power was re-established solved the issue. (Probably pulling the radio fuse rather than toying with the battery connection would have done the same thing.)

Take a torch and see if there are any foreign objects in the loading compartment. Children are know to insert for coins to just about anything they can squeeze through the ****. Then try removing the system from the dash and open the top lid. see if you can clean the lens from a small cutout on the loading mechanism using a cotton ear bud. Do it in good light because the lens ( looks like a fish eye ) can oly been seen at an angle through the cutout.
Its dirty, try a disc cleaner, (brushes not solution) and if that does not work, its time to replace, (unless the radio is all ya want). ALSO- if you are trying to play burnt discs, (cd-r, mp3 discs etc) than that could be the issue as not all indash cd players support non store bought cds
black = ground red = switched battery power yellow = constant batery power (for clock...etc) orange = illumination blue = amplifier turn on or accessory (electric antenna, amps etc)
you probably already solved your problem by now, or you probably have a different stereo, but in case you haven't let me tell you what I just did. you just have to reset you system, to do that you take off the front part and stick a pen in the reset hole. The reset hole is in the lower right corner.
