A part fell off............

I opened my Whirlpool quiet partner I (DU920PWKB0)dishwasher and there was a clear/white rubber loop laying in the basket. The dishes were clean and I didn't notice any water leaking anywhere. I am not sure where it came from or how to put it back..... It is approximately the circumferance of a basketball and has groves one the side.....Thanks for the help

It looks like it could be the a seal from around the powerclean filter module - the big round thing in the middle of the floor of the machine. check the manual on this link; http://www.whirlpool.com/assets/pdfs/lit... page 5 item "k" and you will see what i am talking about - page 20 gives a better idea but nothing is shown as you describe it - it may be a later addition/modification. try and see if it might fit this about, in the area between the filter edge and the floor of the machine. call: 1-800-253-1301 (if this doesn't work try 866-698-2538 - but i think the first one is the new one) for whirlpool service guys - they are very helpful. Only other thing i can think is if you had any other item in the dishwasher that may have a similar seal - mixer type machines, pressure cooker lids, storage jars or maybe something the kids wanted to wash etc. - you know what i mean; think hard if you can think of anything - the seal may have been in the machine for a while before you saw it. I do think the filter is where it came from though - without this seal it may appear to be working but not efficiently, and perhaps it is a little loose and somehow the seal came out. Bit of a guess but if all seems well then there may be no problem - a leak to the outside would be the first indication of any major issue which you say you don't have. good luck. I hope this helps :)
