Scanner Problems Hi I purchased a Canon PIXMA MP780 last year and all has been fine. Then the other day I was doing a 6 page batch scan and the 1st page went through fine the second page stopped half way through and did not finish the scan, since then it has not worked properly with the scanner. I have installed the software on my laptop and it works just fine.
The problem is i need it to work with my main pc, which it has been doing until this problem.
I have tried used the CD that came with it and also downloaded the software from Canon.
I have uninstalled all the software and re installed, making sure it was not connected until after it said to connect, I have repeated this several times but cannot get it to work with the pc again. The printer will work. It does see the scanner and attempts to scan but the most it manages to get it is to 14%.
Thanks in advance

It sounds very much as if the scanner is faulty/failed. The warming-up phase is to ensure that the scanner lamps output is steady, making for consistent scans. Usually this is just a simple timing circuit.
Having once tried to fix a broken flatbed scanner myself, I found that obtaining the correct replacement lamp for it was impossible - I think inkjet printers and scanners are considered "consumable". You may be better off buying a new printer. Alternatively, if it keeps producing good prints, consider buying a separate scanner. HTH
1. Allow pop ups on the page.
2. Select your Operating System: Mac OS X.
3. Look for the drivers section: there's a scanner driver called
mp780osxsd12131ej7.dmg. Left click on the driver for more information. On the next page read the setup information and agree to begin the download. Finish the steps in the setup information for installing the required scanner driver.
You probably need a new printhead, but that problem cann also be caused by the purge or cleaning station not working properly. If you do a cleaning cycle with no carts. and the little pads in the printhead come back with no ink on them then the purge is working and you need a new printhead.
This is what the service manual says:
(1) Clean the Document glass.
(2) Check the connection
between the contact sensor
and SPCNT board (JCCD1).
(3) Replace the SCANNER
(4) Replace the SPCNT board
Are you scanning both black and white and color the same way? The ADF (automatic document feeder) uses a different scanning area than when you place the document on the scanning glass. If you open the scanner cover, look to the left of the main scanner glass to the narrow strip used for the ADF. Make sure this narrow strip is clean -- no ink or white-out or scratches. This can make your copies look dirty or smudged.
