Best I can come up with is that you cannot turn the unit off without removing the batteries - obviously means you need to set the clock again each time.
I would also try press and hold the display button, then try press and hold with all other buttons in turn, one of them may do it - the manual does not suggest this will work but it possibly could.
If no luck with this then try contacting Sony;

They may be helpful - we get mixed reports.

For the Flip Ultra - Take out batteries you should see a flat somewhat square piece of metal with a small black piece sticking up from it. Take a pencil and push the black piece down wait a few minutes then try turning your flip back on.
sounds like the power button rubber has degraded . please dismantle the radio and clean the button contacts with mild solvent. use nail polish remover to accitone. Don't use soapy water.
My record lock is turn off, but every time I press the record stop to stop record it takes me to the password screen where I must enter a password before I can stop the recording....This piece of xxxxx is stink. I hate my Samsung SHR-1040...I cant even talk to Samsung about it.....When I call, they transfer me to India and they dont even know what a DVR is......I told them DVR 10 times, but they keep repeating to me " VCR"
