Im getting an E20 during the drying cycle which starts up, runs for a random amount of time and then displays E20 and lights up the Rinses light.
Ran a maintenance cycle, cleared filter (bottom right) and have straightened the drain hose but still get the problem.
It runs the wash cycle fine until the dry.
The book says that E20 is the drain hose/pump so I guess I need to detatch the hose and check it for obstructions. Can anyone advise as to how best to do this, which external panels need to be removed?
I have the same problem. Washes OK, but fails on the dry cycle. Clothes end up wetter than when they went into the drying cycle. I was coming to the same conclusion as one of the fixes - ie faulty water inlet solenoid. I will try that. Just for info I think the same fault can be caused by the condensor being blocked. Mine was completely bunged up with fluff, but clearing it didn't fix my problem - although I'm convinced this is often the cause of this issue. To clear it you need to take the top and rear case off. The condensor is the large clear plastic assemby running from top to bottom on the RHS.I have the same problem. Washes OK, but fails on the dry cycle. I had exactly the same problem, and reading solution #1 about the water inlet solenoid decided to turn off the inlet water supply. Then I set a wash cycle running for a few seconds so that it tried to take in water to make sure that water pressure on the valve was released. It is now running a drying cycle - so far so good.
The problem is the cold water inlet solenoid. I had the same problem and gave the solenoid a gentle tap with a hammer, m/c worked again for a short while but eventually replaced the unit. It works fine as a washing m/c because the inlet solenoid is a two value config. one for the washing cycles and one for the dryer.

If the wash cycle runs ok then unlikely to be the drain pump or hoses. put drain hose into a bucket and check waster comes out during dry - it wont be large amounts of water. can you hear the drain pump running during the dry cycle?

Since it drains properly during the wash cycle, we know the drain pump and its impeller (propeller) work, and the coin trap (you called it a filter) and hoses are not clogged. By the way, turning the rightmost knob to "4" will start the pump-out cycle, so you don't have to open that trap-door at the bottom. To condense, the machine needs COLD water (spritzing on an internal screen) during drying. Make sure your cold water hose is connected to the outside (outboard) connection on the back of the machine. As a long shot: If the gray drain hose is pushed too far down into your home's drain pipe (more than 8") there could be a "back-siphon" where dirty water siphons back into the washer. It's a long shot, but it does happen.
Lastly, the controller board (mounted at top of right side) could be bad, and not sending on-off commands to the pump during drying. During drying, the drain pump should cycle on and off constantly, every few minutes. Do you hear it running? If you remove back (about 12 Torx screws), at your lower left you will see the pump. There are only 2 wires (120 VAC) and they can be connected either way. Stick a meter on the terminals and see if power is cycling on and off. If not, the controller board is bad.

Loads dried using the Towels, Heavy Duty, Normal, Perm
Press, and Delicates cycles will dry automatically at the
selected temperature to the desired dryness level. The
dryer uses sensing bars to sense the moisture level of
the load as it tumbles through heated air. Auto Dry
cycles save time and energy and protect fabrics. The
estimated drying time will be displayed for about 5
minutes, then the outside of the display will light up in
a circular track to indicate the drying time is automatically
being determined by the sensors. When the load
has reached the selected dryness level, it will continue
to tumble, unheated, during a Cool Down period. This
helps reduce wrinkling and makes items easier to handle
during unloading. The estimated Cool Down time will be
displayed.
Drying time varies depending on size and dampness of
load and fabric type. If the load is too small or almost
dry, the sensing bars may not detect enough moisture
to continue the cycle and the cycle may end after a few
minutes. Select a Timed Dry setting to dry such loads.
Room temperature and humidity, type of installation and
electrical voltage or gas pressure can also affect drying
time.
For cycle selection turn the knob on the front of the
dryer control panel. The light will illuminate next to
the cycle selected. The following is a brief description
for what cycles should be chosen for certain items and
materials to be dried.
not familar with the code but usually wash has a built in thermo stop to wait for water to heat to correct temp,if it works normally in a rince cycle and spins out and finishes properly i would look at heat element or stat,hope this helps
