HP Desk jet 3490

When i print anything on my HP Deskjet 3490 it leaves a huge gap at the bottom of the page before it begins printing so that when the print is complete the text or picture isn't in the centre of the page. please help.

To ensure the driver isn't the problem, remove printer from pc, go to add/remove programmes and uninstall printer driver. restart pc and insert the printer driver cd and install again or download from here, although I can only find a '3940' model. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=445449&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=12&submit.x=8&lang=en&cc=us When prompted re connect printer and windows should say Found new hardware, then, hardware installed and ready to use. Try printing a test page. If still same result then the printer is faulty.

When something like what you describe happens it is because the cartridge is dry; I change the cartridge.

Need instructions for cartridge cleaning routine

Begin with the printer turned off.
Press and hold down the CARTRIDGE button, then press the POWER button until the power light is on. Release the POWER button and then release the CARTRIDGE button and the Clean Test page will print.
Inspect the Clean Test page and look for gaps in the nozzle test patterns. If there are no gaps, the cartridge has recovered. If there are gaps, run the Clean Test once more. If gaps still appear in the nozzle pattern test, replace the cartridge. Printing the Clean Test unnecessarily will reduce the life of the cartridge.

Hp 3745 desk jet problem

check whether its printing the test page properly directly from the printer not from the pc.for that print

1)just ON the printer
2)press the ON button
3)do not leave the ON button and lift the cover of the printer completely up and down 4times.
4)if you want to change the cartridges which front cover you will lift ,that you have to lift 4times up and down by pressing the ON button ,then leave the ON button the printer test page will come out of the printer .
5)keep the paper in the tray.
6)check that printout if its proper the printer is perfect
7)if the print is improper then the printer is having some problem.
8)also try changing the cartridges and see if its same or better prints comes out.

well..assuming that the text is the same on all, this might be a settings issue, with the print spooler. That's in the set up of the printer, under properties..look into that, and perhaps you'll want to spool the whole job, instead of printing immediately?

print spooler memory is finite, so the longer jobs will take longer.
