Can I use a 2wire 2701HG-B with Earthlink as my ISP?

I have this same router from AT&T. First thing you need to do is make sure all phone line devices have filters on them. If that doesn't work, try a different phone jack. It could be the internal wiring on that phone jack that's causing a connection disruption (this happened to me with the jack in my room). If that still doesn't work, then call your ISP's tech support line. They'll check their network status & make sure the servers in your area aren't down for any reason, which could be a strong possibility as the ATM circuit is located at the servers. Otherwise, there could have been a screw-up on their part, which they need to correct on their side. The only way to resolve these latter issues are by calling your ISP.
PVC Connection Could not find an ATM Circut simply means you do not have an internet Connection to your Router/PC

Modem and routers are considered only as access point you computer may be able to connect to your router but if you dont have a DSL line you will not be able to go on line... if you dont want a DSL line there are service that concentrates on wireless alone... in this DSL line are not required nor router but may provide you a USB wireless adapter that has their wireless service then again try calling an Internet Service provider for this options...

Connect the cable at both ends and do a red button (inside card door) reset of the DVR. To test the connection, do thus: Menu -> .....setup -> system setup -> network setup -> test connection. If it shows not connected then "reset defaults" and run "connect now"
As a basic security feature the ATT DSL 2Wire 2701HG-B router/gateway requires you to enter its pre-assigned WEP key to connect beyond the unit itself and then to the internet. Since the Direct TV DVR HD24D only does a basic connection without having a place to enter the 2701HG-B WEP key it never actually reaches the internet.
The 2Wire 2701HG-B has the ability for one attached unit to "pass through" its firewall and internal security settings using a so called "DMZplus" mode. I set the HR24D DVR to such a mode within the 2Wire unit and the DVR connected with the internet flawlessly.

You really need to get a cable modem for your charter isp since they have different configurations.

if dsl light is flashing is trying to get connetion from isp check wires from jack to modem
check for filters on phones,fax,alarm systems(not on modem)
or call your isp

that is typically a bad username in the modem, you will have to put there temp user name in for registration for the DSL. and after that you can put the username into the modem that you created during the registration process. Should be taken care of.

look if u wish to go for verizon service,,they will provide u with a wireless modem as well,,but if u tell them that u hav a modem then they might configure this modem only,,both ATT and verizon are DSL service providers with PPPoE connections.the only thing u need is the username and passwrd from verizon which u have to setup on the first page of the 2wire setup page,,both the connections are dhcp based.so no other connection settings change required.But when u talk with verizon make sure u tell them of the 2wire modem

Moreover verizon has wireless broadband service which is actually a express card tat u have to put into your computer and u can go online anywhere u go within ur country{it works like a mobile phone}

do you also have AT&T? att2wire 2701hg-b gateway is configured to work with AT&T only that's why if you have a different ISP, it will not work for you. Most ISPs provide modems that are configured solely for their service.

Hard reset the router and reflash or update the firmware.

If still wont work then it will be hardware problem (bad memory).
