I was just got a 2wire 2701HG-B DSL moden/router and I would like to use it with Earthlink? Is this possible? I am not up on all the technical stuff therefore please forgive my ignorance. I would like to connect it by ethernet to a iMac and wirelessly to my HP printer and my laptop PC. Right now I am using a Lynksys WRT54GL and it is constantly loosing & getting the wireless connection (randomly). I have paid Lynksys to access my computer and solve the problem but it did not work. I am tired of holding on for their assistance.
SOURCE: Can I use AT&T 2WIRE 2701HG-B DSL to ant ISP?
look if u wish to go for verizon service,,they will provide u with a wireless modem as well,,but if u tell them that u hav a modem then they might configure this modem only,,both ATT and verizon are DSL service providers with PPPoE connections.the only thing u need is the username and passwrd from verizon which u have to setup on the first page of the 2wire setup page,,both the connections are dhcp based.so no other connection settings change required.But when u talk with verizon make sure u tell them of the 2wire modem
Moreover verizon has wireless broadband service which is actually a express card tat u have to put into your computer and u can go online anywhere u go within ur country{it works like a mobile phone}
best of luck,,keep me posted
