Question about Pioneer PureVision PDP-5030HD 50 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
Last week I heard a pop sound from the inside of my Pioneer PDP 5030 plasma. I took it apart, examining the power supply board I found a resister had blown. I call pioneer and ordered a new power supply board. When it arrived I proceeded to install it back in the unit. All the cables were put back into its proper location. I turned the unit on and the power supply clicked, the green light on board came on and turned back off. Now the power supply will not even turn on. The power light indicator in front of the panel will only rapidly blink red. It repeatedly blinks without stopping. If I turn the receiver off the blinking slows but once the receiver is turned back on the red light speeds its pace. I do not hear clicking on the power supply unit any more. Please help. Thank you. JT
Ok here's how I manage solve the problem... Having the back removed opens the contacts on the interlock switch so I guess if it powers up in this state it senses the high voltages are exposed and for safety shuts down... After this the unit will not power up and the power led flashes red continuously as described before…
After some thought it occurred to me that there may not be a problem at all, just be a simple reset function for this condition… I managed to find an easy solution to this… Just call up the hidden engineer’s service menu – On 3rd generation Pioneer Plasmas it’s as follows > Power down the screen > Hold down the “Input” and “Vol +” buttons on the front > Power the screen up and the Service menu comes up on the screen > You don't need to change anything just simply power off and from then the screen should operate as normal…It did for me so I’m well happy now!!
I hope this information will help someone else one day – Good Luck!!…Rob UK…

Thank you so much, I was literally about to throw away my TV when I stumbled across this post. Everything else I read suggested it was capacitor issue which I do not have skills for. I am amazed that I was able to enter Engineer mode using this method and after powering off it seems to be working perfectly. Many Thanks again
Glad to help Silver1, that interlock switch can really throw you lol... :)
10 years on after the power board was fitted to mine and the Pioneer is still going strong every day without any problems.
Kind regards Rob.

There are 2 problems 1)you might have tripped the interlock switch which a white switch on back.2)what happened to unit(pop)you lost a scan ic and probably damaged the y sus board.use a multi meter and check the y-sus connector plug on power supply and check to see if it is shorted. If it is you also need a y-sus board. If you need help on the interlock switch please e-mail back

Fix for Flashing red stand by light. Make sure media receiver light is on and green . My blu ray is just above the media receiver and someone pressed the receiver button thinking it was the blu ray and turned it off. Then press stand by light on the tv again and the tv should go back on.

Where is the interlock switch located?
Also, we had white glove service mount the unit to the wall, how do remove from the wall?

M1013, thank you for your response! After replacing the power supply i failed to notice the white switch in the back was out. I'm assuming that the white switch is the one that is depressed when the back panel of the unit is screwed on. When i powered the unit on with the back panel of and the lever switch not depressed. The power supply turned on, I saw a green light on the power supply and then it quickly turned off and the light in front started rapidly blinking red. Since my post, I returned the power supply and purchased another. That too will not work and i see the rapid red light in front. So i think it's the switch you are talking about. Please tell me what to do with the interlock switch. Thank you very much!
I turned the power on, after 2 minutes of operation we heard a loud pop, the stand by light blinks rapidly 5 times. Is it the power suppy?
If it is how easily can it be fixed?
Thanks
Hi I have exactly the same problem as you had vezeer. I too had a power supply failure on my 50" (PDP-503HDE) and have replaced the power supply board for a new one, I also didn't notice the saftey switch. I know the switch is working ok and have taped it down and also I have checked the Y board for shorts but that appears ok... For some reason the power supply board isn't being told to fire up at all, it only did the first time and like yours it shut down and that's it. I too get the constant red power led blinking which goes faster once the media box is turned on but the system won't come out of this standby condidtion - I hope there's a simple silly solution to this... I have even tried putting the old board back in and that used to power up then off but that won't fire up either just the same flashing led?... Any help would be very much appreciated thanks... Rob.
I have been experiencing this problem described above for months!! Very annoying!! Even got it repaired by a designated Pioneer service agency and still the problem occurs. Unbelievable!!! I'm going to try solution 3 to see if it works. Why wouldn't Pioneer own up to it's defect, recall and resolve their issue and protect their BRAND NAME PIONEER!!
I have a pioneer PDP 433cmx power supply failed.
in other posts people have had there power supplies replaced for free from pioneer.
called Pioneer said that they wont cover fixing anymore,, anyone else have same problem or a solution.
