Dynex 37 hiss and plaid screen

A few months ago I was getting green "swirls" where black should be but I could adjust the picture enough for it to work. Last week, without warning, the screen was totally black with red and green stripes (almost a plaid) and a hiss was audible from the back of the TV. Is this something I can fix without taking to a shop- or is it just shot?

There are some components that have gone bad in the board. It could also be due to moisture inside. Please do not continue to use it and refer it to a qualified service technician.

Unplug it from the wall, wait 2 minutes and plug it back in. if problem still exists, its probably the main pcb.

You may need to set up the video card to see the TV so you can display the computer on it.Somewhere in the setting for your video card should be settings for that.

You have a bad LCD control board going bad,Color getting floresent? Or pixely? esp. when you have it on for a bit. Common prop. But finding parts is a prob.
They are no longer in buis. Try Shop Jimmy,or even Ebay. Encompass does not have any. Runs about 40-60.

SOURCE: dynex 32" tv picture goes black

If there is still about ? 24. Volts coming from the Power Board when it goes dark, it will be the Inverter board that needs replacing. If not, it is the Power Board that needs replacing. The Voltages should be written next to the sockets & plugs on the Power Board.

Screen Green Tint

Turn down your color and see if the screen has a normal black & white screen. If it doesn't then the CRT is bad (picture tube). If it is black & White then you have a either lost your red or blue. That problem will be in your video driver circuit of which a service center can handle.

Screen

What you may have needed to do was adjust the green & blue crt screens to match the red. Go into your picture menu adjust, turn color all the way down to a black & white px. Now adjust each crt screen so that you end up with a true black & white px. Then adjust each focus control to get a sharp px, have your tv on a channel like the home shopping network so you can adjust each crt focus one at a time for clarity by cover the other 2 up. Then go back into picure adjust & turn color ahlf way up, you should see a better px.

Picture has greenish tint that I can't adjust out

There is a crt drive problem and you can isolate it by unpluggin g the set, removing the green crt socket, in the middle of the three tubes is the green tube by the way, remove one of the other tubes and switching the crt sockets and turn it on. If the set is still greenish, then the green crt is bad and needs replacement, if another color is primart, then it is going to be the green crt drive circuit and is going to need to be serviced. Good Luck
