My Maytag Electric dryer stopped working. It worked fine this morning but would not turn on at all this evening. The interior light comes on but nothing else happens.

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Hi, I experienced the same problem with my Maytag electric dryer. I finally fixed the problem after I checked the actual vent pipe (which allows air to discharge to the outside of your home). What I found was quite surprising. I found was a mouse nesyt in this pipe. Once I removed the mouse next,m my electric dryer worked fine. Just a thought. Good Luck!

It's rather unusual for any internal failure to cause the dryer to just stop in cycle. Check the circuit breaker that supplies the dryer. It should be a double-pole breaker of at least 30 amps. Turn the breaker off and back on to ensure it is reset. Internal causes could be the motor, door switch, thermal safety switch, timer, or a broken wire.
If you can get to the timer, spray a good electronic contact cleaner inside while rotating the dial. Also check the door switch for solid mounting and sung wire connections.
Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.
To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning
