I have found out the problem, it seems the camera (new to me) but old to this fast moving world of photography... my camera cannot cope with the "H" high definition chip....

it seems many cameras of yesterday cannot cope with the chips of today.... too much high tech stuff the cameras system cannot cope with it.........hence I shall revert back to my brownie box camera and bin the posh digital camera.

at least my brownie is fixable with a screw driver
    ha ha!

I had the same problem - put in the new card and it comes up with card error so I'm unable to format it - the smaller memory card works fine but only holds ablut 10 photos! Any solutions yet?

ah bless many thanks, I did ask the guy in the camera shop if he would let me try before I buy, but he said due to the chip being bubble wrapped he couldnt sell it on again should it not suit. I ended up sending it back to the manufacturers and they swopped it for a more compatable on.

Thankyou once again, its all a learning process

Hi,

You should be able to go up to 64Mb without problems.

The quick answer is to go to a reputable camera shop and try-before-you-buy.

If you do use the larger capacity chips, don't use panarama as some are not able to be used with this function.

I hae inserted a brand new memory card PYN 16mg with no pictures. I tried to format the memroy card and got "file sys error e00100"

16MB or 16GB? If you just bought it, I doubt it's 16MB so I'm going to assume it's 16GB.

The C330 works with MMC and SD cards. A 16GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use cards 2GB and smaller.

If it actually is a 16MB card, please reply to this post and we'll take it from there.

Got new olympus memory card, keeps saying card error

Is the memory card the correct capacity? Is it too "big"? ie is it say a 8 gig and maybe your camera only supports 4 gig? I had that problem with my camera-I had bought a memory card which was too high in capacity for it. Check your user manual for the cards and capacity you can use.

New xd picture card compatability with olympus d-395

Check the maximum capacity memory card that your older camera will take. My Fuji will only take up to a 2gig card unless I flash the firmware in the camera to take the newer 4gig cards. Some of the older cameras maxed out at 1 gig or less. Check eBay for smaller capacity cards as they are getting hard to find in stores.

Cant get anything when i installed the memory card for my olympus

If this is a C-700 camera the only memory card that can be used in that camera is a Smartmedia card from 16mb to 128mb. An xD card is not even supported by that camera at all.

Picture card 16MB

Your Oly uses xD memory which is made by Fuji and others but apparently your camera is limited to 512MB cards so check with any supplier to ensure you are not buying something you cannot use.

XD-Picture Card

The xD-Picture card is the memory card where the D-390 stores the pictures. xD-Picture Cards come in a variety of sizes currently ranging from 16MB through 256MB. Larger capacity xD cards allow you to store more pictures.
