I have a Samsung LN40A530P1FXZA. It will not power up. I get 2blinks followed by short quick blink and then it repeats itself. I have replaced the power supply board and also the main board, and it still will not work. Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on with this tv? I wish I had an error code book for this tv, but I do not. The only thing I have not replaced is the TCon board. Need someone's help.

Hi there,

If the tv is still under warranty, this can be repaired at no charge.

However, if not under warranty, you will need to have the CAPACITORS on the main power supply circuit board tested (or replaced).

The capacitors responsible for the power supply can sometimes fail - open the back panel. If the capacitors on the main power supply board look too fat, or signs of burning near the solder joints, then you've found the problem.

Transformers fail on your power supply board. Go to the Sharp website put the model number in and serial number and in order and you can order a replacement parts. You can find out how to replace it via YouTube it's not as hard as you think

Try the self check when power light goes off, on front press and hold both the menu and input buttons for at least 5 seconds and let both go.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks,2blinks, pause and repeat it several times.

What error code do you find?

Just in case if you have done it wrong.... To retrieve error code plug TV into wall outlet. Push power button, let it do whatever it does. After that push BOTH buttons in fron of TV named "Menu" and "Input" and hold it for at least 5-6 seconds.
Green LED in front of TV will start blinking error code (when it starts you can let buttons go).
If it clinks like "2 blinks, pause, 2blinks longer pause, repeat" most likely you have convergence issue. Two convergence amps have to be replaced along with couple PICO fuses that already open.
I would strongly recommend to let professional do this repair. As well in case of different error code.
Should cost you in ball park of $250-$300.

Your lamp is getting old.  When it shuts off the led in the front (the one that says Lamp) should be blinking a code, several short blinks followed by a pause.  Count the blinks and compare them to the info in the manual.  My lamp went out after 4 years, $46 to replace it was all.

Here is what you do:
UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.


Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem


******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.


SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.


IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

Pull out the battery and replace it again. Then power it on again. If the problem persists, you will need to have the motherboard, processor and RAM checked by appropriate technical personnel. Any of these could be responsible.
