Each security system is custom and with that, you will need to know how many layers of protection you need. Sensors on doors and windows, yes. Do you need glass break sensors, motion sensors, do you have pets?

It turns out that because Comcast uses VoIP, the Simon can't use it to call in reports. I ended up having to switch monitoring companies to one that specifically uses internet monitoring. The solution was to buy/install a wireless g bridge into the phone output on the alarm panel, and then connect it (wirelessly) to my home network. No major problems since then.
